I just picked up a Final Approach dog blind for Scout. So far, it seems to be a great product. I'll be using it in conjunction with my Avery Finisher layout blind, also new. I'm excited because I now have a new training cirriculum for Scout. Field hunting is new to him and I.

Question: How do you guys position the dog blind in relation to the layout blind.

Thanks.

I think those dog blinds are way to high, and one more thing to carry out. Teach your dog to hide. Just get a little extra corn and tell Scout hide and bury him in it.

Ask SRGSLT I say hide to my dog and she starts trying to get under the corn or will run to the closest fence line and lay down til there is retriveing to be done. Start with a blanket inside and put it on him and say hide and give him the down command. If he moves correct him. I use Edison medicine for that.

matt are you a right handed shooter? if so does scout heel at your left?
if so on both. then set you mutt hutt along side your layout blind just back enough where his head along side yours. hammer said those blinds are way high????? i dont have issue with that and have been using mine for three years, he also said one more thing to carry out, just take out the top rod and put the mutt hutt inside your layout blind for transport

Barry. I'm right handed and he heels at my left, so the technique you described sounds good. Thanks.

yea thats the way i am to. like i said i keep his head in line with mine so im not shootin over him and can keep an eye on him and give him commands to. also his blind actually touches mine so i have full control over him that way

I agree with hammer that is what I do with my lab and we consistantly decoy birds right in front of us within ten to fifteen yards. Although I am looking to get the new avery dog blind that seems have little lower profile. I all depends on what you want to do.

nicklentz.

FYI: If you're looking for a lower profile dog blind; the Avery Finisher is 24" high, while the Mutt Hut is only 18" high.
