what is the oldest banded goose?

I just thought it would be interesting to see how old some of the honkers are that you guys have taken. The oldest one I have shot was 8 yrs old.

Around the Columbia, MO area there are a select number of geese with White Neck Collars on them with black letters and numbers that are still left over from a pilot program. To my knowledge the youngest birds are about 14 and as old as 22. We did a search for them at my job back in September to see which ones were still left and we located 9 in just one small corner of the county....There are some really old birds out there, The oldest I have ever heard of was a 25 year old a few years back shot in MI

my banded one was 9 years old, but i have heard of snow geese being up to 27 years old.

I shot one 4 years ago that was 9 years old and banded in he North West Territories. The band if you are to look at it almost half of the inside of the band, the part that is against the leg was damn near paper thin. :D

The oldest one i have was 18 years at least. Shot in Pennsylvania, banded in Alabama.

I killed an 11 year old banded bird on Labor Day of 2005. Al was my camera man there. Ten came in and I rolled my 2 out with 2 shots and the first one had a band....got it all on tape!!! And wouldn't ya know it, i killed an 8 year old banded bird on Labor Day of 2006!
