I recently bought a single reed timber rattler and it is sticking like crazy...it sticks after being blown for only short periods of times....and when you try to high ball on it like the start of the sound file...just wondering if its the reed?

I have had mine for about 1.5 years with the exact same issues. I believe the wood has shrunk as the insert has become more difficult to place in the bell. I noticed that my reed is sticking to the inside touching the wood. The problem has gotten progressivley worse. Any ideas?

if it was a double reed i could help you guy's out, does it stick right away or after you have blown it a bit? with the wood TR do you have it exposed to a high humidity area? also after it sticks is the call really wet inside?

Thanks for the response. It mainly sticks after the first series of calling and gets worse. I noticed moisture built up but nothing out of the ordinary for calling. I was thinking of contacting customer service to see if they could trouble shoot the problem.

Without a better understanding of "sticking" in your terms...it could be one of two things

1) You're a salivator.....
2) The call needs retuned a little stiffer for you.

Is it sticking in the middle of notes or just sticking up solid so you can even get a note out at all???????

I would take the reed and wedge out of the insert and take a fingernail file or a piece of emery cloth and rough up the tone board.Just drag it across it 4 or 5 times blow the dust off,and put everything back together.Go ahead and call on it some afterwards and see if that helped.

you could take a knive and run it with the blade facing the opposite way your are running it old spit and stuff gets stuck to the tone board and changes the call and can make it stick
