this is the best way too do it, take an Arrow from a bow, with a sharp field point on it, and find the balance point of the Decoy on the arrow, on the inside spine of the deke, when you find the balance point of the deke, just press down on the decoy, so the field point makes a small indentation in the plastic and thats where you drill your hole, do not rush this process or you will find yourself in the end with a crap load of holes in your decoys, make sure you have the perfect balance and make sure you are farely centered on the spine.......as far as cutting the bases up to keep the legs, there are Two options here that im a currently trying, ones kinda gross and im not sure how well its going to werk, but we took a dzn geese this year that we killed, cut the legs off above the knees, and pinned them to a foam board so they are spread as they would be naturaly, we are going to let them dry all summer and then drill holes in them and use them similar to the way the new ( stubs ) are attached on the new GHGs, the second idea is to take small cuts of Black PVC pipe and attach them in a similar fasion, i would hate to think of all the time you would spend cutting the footbasses up to use the leggs, just to find out the mess with the way the decoy balances of moves.....this is just my $.02 i hope it helps......
