View Full Version : DMM
Is there really any reason to buy a TR over a DMM? Both in DR. Can't the DMM do anything the TR can do? Thanks
yea they both do the same just a matter of prefferance

I think the Timber Rattler is just a little "DUCKIER" sounding than the Dead Meat. I have both and prefer the TR for more feeding calls and the DMM for more high ball calls. It's all personal prefrence!

The DMM is a bit louder on the high ends to but i agree the TR is much duckier.

Like what has been said...the TR is little softer call. Both calls are very ducky and have that old hen sound. Both calls are nasally and raspy. The DMM has a bit more volume than the TR, but can get just about as soft as the TR. The DMM is a great all-around call. Most of the time that is what I use...but if we are hunting small sloughs or swamps, the TR or the Legend (wood/poly double) get the nod.

Both great calls. I've got DMM in sr and TR in dr. I prefer the TR because I think it's duckier as well and I can't call near as soft on the DMM as I can on the TR.

well prob because yur tr is double and yur dmm is single, all double reeds will be duckier than a single, but i know my single reed dmm is pretty ducky.
Well what I want is only to have two duck calls and hunt in all situations, right know I have a SMM and looking for a call that can cover me in most other situations.

Definitely. I'm not a pro duck caller and I don't blow a sr as well as dr. 3 of my hunting buddies have DMM dr and I've tried them. I just like my TR better. My girl actually bought me the DMM in sr. I know you can switch them out easy but I'm tryin to get the handle on the sr better.
the single is definatly louder than the doubles. my TR/DR is really raspy when i need it and real soft to finish em off

I like the DMM to bring em in from out there and then switch to the TR to finish em up

I like em both, I keep a lanyard for ducks that has a SMM sr, a DMM dr, and a TR dr, and switch them up depending on situation, we hunt a lot of public lakes with a lot of pressure, and I believe the more tricks in your bag, the better off you are. That being said, life is to short to settle on one call, get one of each  I would probably by the DMM dr first then the TR.
one call will never do it all...............so what did we learn from this? you need more calls

DMM kicks ass, but then again i dont own a TR, i will, but not yet.........hey are all you guys using a DMM SR or DR, cause mine a DR and it sticks like no tomorrow, the other day we were hunting in light rain and fog, and i hadnt even blown the call that morning picked it up and blew into it, NOTHING, it was stuck just from the moisture in the air.......im seriously concidering switchin it to a SR, and calling it a day...

i have never been a huge fan of double reeds cause of that reason,,two reeds on top each other is just asking for stickiness!

Single reeds stick too.Take your top reed either massage it up a little bit be careful it will change the tone of your call if that dont work try putting another dimple on your top reed closer to your wedge i use sissors.Well in the field you blow your call alot when you start getting wore out you tend to put alot more saliva in the call or i think the more duck you try to put in the call alot of saliva too.I use a tr and a dm.I really like both the tr a dbl and the dm is a single.well thats just my 2 cents good luck
