IL Southern Zone Youth season.

How many of you guys are heading out for the Southern Zone youth season this weekend? Good luck to all that are going!

I have taken kids out for the past 7 or 8 years probably but won't be taking any this year. I have seen a few ducks the past month or so while scouting, but nothing to get my blood boiling. I have just as much fun watching younger kids get into the action as I do shooting them myself, but I'd sure hate to take a kid and have them think duck hunting is boring and stupid when we all know how fun and rewarding it can be.

I went out for a drive tonight man to check the river and everything, we've picked up about 3.5-4 inches the past two days. I live in Vandalia which is right on Interstate 70 so I've got a lot of places in both the central and southern zones. I drove for maybe an hour or so tonight and saw one duck. It did fly right over a backwater slough where I have a blind but man, season opens tomorrow and I don't even know if I'll go. Just not any birds around right now.
