I feel I can answer that as a SBE owner and Extrema2 owner.

No questions about it Extrema. And when the SBE guys start in just remind them who owns Benelli  Beretta

My first beretta and I noticed how many piecies they copied form the SBE 2 on that gun.

The only one to get is the one with the kick off.

Here we go again...Beretta or Benelli, Chevy or Ford, Pringles or Doritos...Bottom line-Benelli, Chevy, and Doritos.

both are great guns. The only major difference is the action type and really, which one is better than the other when your talking that these 2 are the cadillacs of waterfowl guns. It's only preference or which 1 you can get a better deal on. All i can say is that my buddy has a beretta and easily has 100,000 plus rounds through it and still no problems or breaks. Has used it for turkey, doves, waterfowl, trapshooting. Through saltwater and so on. nothing has had to be replaced yet. I bought the benelli cause i got a great deal on it. It was a toss for me between the 2 also.

both are great guns... I made my choice but both have suggested retails of $1450 to $1500(you can find them cheaper)... they are very similar...so what it really comes down to is personal preference... I'm in no way dissing beretta here, but I'm more than satisfied with my SBE... the only thing I've ever had trouble with is the super light field loads...but they fixed that with the super black eagle 2's

Not really a dead horse if you have shot magnum loads out of both.

I never passed up a shot over and behind me with the Beretta this year. The last 3 days of the season I used my SBE and passed up on about 3 shots at flocks they were over and behind us and I did not want to screw my back up for 2 weeks from the kick of the SBE.

Jeff you want to know why I did not call the shots on those birds behind us a 25 yards now you know. Remember we still shot 40 without those flocks

Those extremas with the kick off are amazing :)

ive shot magnum rounds out of beneli's SBEI and SBEII ,novas, all berettas including the extremas, winchesters, brownings, mossbergs, remingtons, franchies, charles daly's. so can you say you have done that?? so some kick more than others so what! the only gun ive shot that doesnt kick hard is my browning 3 1/2 ' 12 ga O/U.........................so if you have a problem with guns beatin the crap out of you then thats your problem. i personally dont feel a thing when im on a bird and pullin the trigger all day long and you'll never hear me whine that my arm hurts cause it dont...........................................

I agree with Barry. I have an SBE, not an SBE 2 with the comfortech. I have a Limbsaver recoil pad on it and very, very rarely notice the kick when shooting at birds, even with 3 1/2 inchers in. And I'm not a heavy guy, I'm 6'2" and only weigh about 170-175 pounds. But if you are kind of a pu$$y, then I guess you better go with the Xtrema 2, cause I heard they dont kick as bad. IMO, benelli is a better shooting shotgun. I literally dumped the dirt and crud out of mine after deciding that it needed to be cleaned after hunting Thanksgiving day. I don't know how it was still cycling, but it was. INERTIA!!!

Sure sucks getting old guys let me tell ya!

I can see exactly what you are talking about. I use to be there myself. Then when I started missing days of work because of back problems it took me about 6 months to figure out it was the kick of that SBE. I wish I was a tough as you guys. It would have saved me about 1500 bucks

I had a SBE 2 for about 3 months and no real differance to me then the SBE.

I know one area I may a little tougher. Words do not fire me up or get me mad. Some poeple are tougher in different areas of life like forums 8)

I guess I am a pu$$y, remember what your mom told you? You are what you eat

for the record i feel that i owe you an apology it was unproffesional of me on my part. eventhough i did not mean any harm on my quote.and i didnt mean to jump on you or any thing like that it was not my intent. first off im 43 yrs old. the reason ive shot so many differant guns is because my wife and my son are very heavily involved in the shooting sports as me. but because she's only 5' and 97 lbs we had a hell of a time getting a gun for her that didnt kick and believe me she loves to shoot. so thousands of dollars later we finally found one for her,and when she shot her first goose it was like your son or daughter when they got there first. i was proud and so was she. so by no means your not a pussy as i do know what it feels like. i was hurt in a constuction accident and suffered a C 4-5 fracture in my neck that almost paralized me in 1998 so i know what it feels like to get older.so rather than turn this tread into a pissing match thats not any ones intent. i simply stated that they buy a gun there happy with! as for me i wouldnt like to get pounded either. so from my stand point the gun im most comfortable shooting happens to be a X2. i like the extrema because it is a soft shooting though im not comfortable with it. so again if i ruffled your feathers i apologize

Hammer, I suppose I wouldnt go as far as calling you a pu$$y, because I know that a kicking shotgun can make for bad shooting too. I have had my SBE for exactly 4 years now and had a Browning BPS 3 1/2 12 gauge. I killed 2 turkeys with it with the first 2 shells ran through it, but come fall that year I couldn't hit crap. I'm not sure what the deal was but I jsut sucked with it. IMO, I think it was a mix of the gun being too big for me (I was only 16 then and pretty scrawny), and I also believe that it was kicking me hard and I was flinching. So that spring, I bought an SBE. And for some reason, it never really did kick me too bad.

I will admit that I have gotten head aches from it from shooting so many 3 1/2 inchers through it during a few days snow goose hunting a few years ago. But again, I was pretty small then too. And I didn't have the Limbsaver on it. I honestly think the Limbsaver recoil pad did help quite a bit.

FYI: The Kick-Off option on the Extrema will add an inch to your draw length. Great gun though, as is the Benelli.

Barry's right. Which ever gun feels better is the one you should get. 8 years down the road it doesn't matter weather you paid $1000 or $1400 for it.

both are great guns, i went with the sbe because it fit better, lighter, and it was cheaper at the time i bought, sale at the end of year a few years back, i dont think it kicks bad, im to pumped up to feel the kick, the beretta stock and fore end were to big & bulky for me, it is all personnel preference

Barry no offense taken at all!

I also have a bad neck severe herniation in C-5 C-6. Not saying I am rich but this forced me to try alot of guns. I will say if the SBE recoil was as light as the Extremas 2 I would use the SBE everyday.

I only shoot about 4-5 cases of 3 1/2 mags every year and I need that gun or by the end of the season I am done.

I use the SBE for pheasant hunting cause the feel in that gun is great for me.

For the record I am a pu$$y when it comes to taking the kick :o

Sorry if I pO'ed you or anyone else.
