This year they finally started selling tags. This is a 251 lb. timber or so the text said. It was killed in idaho.
It's unbelievable that they didn't learn from Theodore Roosevelt. All the money that the western states have put into and have gotten ($270,000 for the governor's tag for elk in Utah last year) for the conservation of the elk and deer herds and these little puppies will have them wiped out in no time. The guy that took the first wolf in idaho was greeted with hate mail and death threats.
What will it take for them to realize their mistake of reintroducing these?
i wish they'd introduce them out here ... i'd love 2 catch 1 of them in a leghold , rumor is the anti's released yotes in ohio 2 stop the state from allowing more deer harvested . insteed now there cats are being eaten .:D:D:D

Ahhh hahaha. Ya catch two at once and they fight to the death. Sure with the anti's would pull their heads out.

That wolf would be about 80 pounds heavier than the world record...

I'd say there is some photoshop in that photo and some truth being stretched...I had seen that Idaho picture a couple months ago, along with this one, claiming the exact same story as it was shot on opening day in Idaho and was 275

The one with guy holding it was snared you can see the snare ring around it's neck and the cable being held in hand that is frayed.
OH did bring coyotes in they migrated, but they kill everything in it's way, back in the day it was common for a trapper to make huge catches of fox in Iowa, Dakotas, MT all the way down the MD now any real numbers just live in SE PA and MD.
good catch on the snare...it was one of those viral emails debunked by snopes, it was photoshopped as well as one of those tales with 20 different locales and stories behind it.
Coyotoes have migrated just about everywhere they adapt as well as any animal to change, habitat loss, etc. I just saw one in the heart of the city where I live a few nights ago.

Why can't the antis understand that hunting is the best way to maintain a healthy population balance? Records and facts don't lie

No kidding, what the anti's don't realize that back in the turn of the 20th century when wolves were eradicated hunting was a part of the wolves management, so it shouldn't be any different now 100 years later when a population is re-introduced, especially considering the population is 20 fold of what it was then, there is a fraction of available habitat, and 10 times as much livestock production.

Totally agree with you. I don't think we need to wipe them out. Personally I would love to hunt one, but they are already haveing an affect on deer, elk and livestock populations. That means lost income in liscens sales in states that have wolves. Also selling wolf tags would increase revenue. Healthy populations of predators and game animals is good for a states economy.
I was kind of shocked at the price of the tag...11.75 x 220 tags in Idaho is peanuts in revenue, not worth the hassle and fuss the state agencies have to deal with from the anti's following a decision to do a season and that wouldn't even cover the cost of printing a wolf informational handout, poster, or hunting guide...those tag prices should be times by ten, it would make for a more efficient hunt rather than a guy buying one just to buy one in case a wolf runs by while hunting, versus if he invests some more money he would hopefully put more care into fulfilling the tag.

They have already dropped the sale of tags in certain units and the ANTIS are loving. There claim will be no hunting at all. You boys better understand something and this is were many fail. You see these DVD's of guys duck hunting, blowing holes in ducks and put it out there, they have copies. I have never heard Jeff, Zink, RNT..... ever say I'd like to take 2 mins out and talk about these ANTIs. Why becuase there all scared they will get the name pussy.

Spend a little time on that site. Send a few emails out a week. I posted the other night about the CRP and what 50 reads, post about shooting a goose in half and that gets 2000 reads. Sure I love to kill **** just as much as the next guy but have a little common sense. Vote, donate some money or time.
Maine had a big Victory the other day concerning trapping, they almost lost there right but they won twice in court. Now here is where they are going to screw up, they should turn around and sue Peta and whoever made the case. They won't because they want to be quiet. I Say give em both barrels and you guys should also.
As strongly as we enjoy they outdoors they are against us, but they want the outdoors just under there rules. So next time instead of surfing the web all night on forums send a few emails out, get involved, make yourself heard, never be ashamed of what you like to do.

Wow I dont know where to start.
Like lready mentioned wolves typically weigh 90-150. Are those pictures photoshopped,.. I doubt it. Wolves are big and have a whole lot of hair,.. A pelted wolf is often over 7 feet. Like other canines such as coyotes and red fox their weight is often grossly over-stated.
Ive caught monster wild red fox that top out at 17 lbs. most hunters never see a fox that weighs 13 lbs.
The last I heard Idaho sold over 14,000 wolf tags http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/hunt/wolf/ last week the kill was at 97
