So the field I had set up to hunt in got picked earlier this week which got me pretty excited, I go out there tonight to get some corn stubble for my blind to go out tomorrow and the farmer has tilled under all the stubble left from cutting. What's your experience with a field like this. My thinking is that he plowed under all my food for the geese. Does it even pay to try to hunt a field like this? Am I out of luck?

we were just talking about this the other day ..... we all noticed that the birds wern't hitting the crop fields in most areas where the temps have been warmer , but insteed hitting green grass and dirt firlds ........ i'd say hunt it or hunt ur early season spots ............ i'm gonna hit a early season spot in the mornin even though about every ear of corn around me has come off the past week ! good luck !!!!

Thanks, good luck to you too. Any other input from you guys with experience with situation would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately my buddy and I spent the last two days getting our blinds ready with corn stubble, I guess we should have just mudded them, we probably would have blended in better. Although, we may look like the only corn in the field, them may try to land right on our blind!;)

if the field was chisel plowed, you will be fine.sometimes where i hunt the geese prefer the chiseled fields over the picked fields.but if it rains hunten your field will be a muddy mess.if the field was moboard plowed, where you can see the ferrow lines in it with big humps then you will be outa luck.but if i had to bet, i bet its chisel plowed. good luck..................R

If he chisled he might have broadcasted wheat for a cover crop. So that would be the advantage, the disadvantage is you cannot drive in there now...

Field looks like the attached picture. What do you boys think?(My blind blends in pretty well)

Saw geese in the air this morning but they were all dumping into a subdivision pond a little ways down the road. The bluebird sky and 50 deg weather didn't help either.

Thanks guys, that really gives me some confidence. We just need some bad weather to get the birds moving!

I hunt a lot of chiseled fields around here and breaking up a couple bales of straw to hide the ground blind in has always worked great for me.Bust in up and spread out, brush up the blind, looks natural and the geese have never minded.
Good luck to you hope you kill em!
