I got a thing in the mail from the Federal Government about keeping logs for days hunted and birds harvested. I guess its just an annual thing they do. I have a special serial # to reference when I send in my yearly totals. I need to keep a log of every day hunted and birds harvested etc. Anyone else ever have to do this? Maybe its a sign that I will have a good year haha :D

It used to be only registered hunt clubs had to keep a harvest log. Our club used to get a harvest log every year but haven't had to in years. We still keep one for our own records only.

Dont send it back unless you wanna be pestered by them for the next few years. Next year theyll send you a big envelope to put some bird wings in and send back.

I got them every year from 2002 untill 2007. They are kind of a pain to keep up with and if you don't send them in they send letters twice a week asking you to send it in. In 2007 when I sent mine in I told them not to send anymore. The one I got in 2005 was for coot, snipe and rail only. I thought that that was pretty funny.

So it's not good to do a small part for conservation?

I got a survey the last couple years for early geese harvested, amount of days hunted..etc..its not a big deal it took about a minute to fill out.It helps them find out info on birds. As long as everyone is honest on the surveys it helps them out alot.Thats the only way they know for sure how many birds are harvested.

I never did one. Whats the difference between this and a waterfowl HIP that you do when you buy your liscense?

This one you actually put down the date you hunted, the county, the state, and the number of birds you harvested. Then add them up at the end of the year

I never said that it wasnt, just said that they will bug the crap outta you once you have participated. Never said i wouldnt do it. I still do it every year for them. Plus i think that donating over 3 grand a year is doing more than my share.

As stated, the next step is clipping wings.

I've done both. Can be a little bothersome at times, but its worth it.

From pa here too and just recieved one in the mail Monday. First time recieving this style of listing county/date/kills/ etc. Company is from Maryland. Pretty interesting but I think it might find its way slowly to the trash can.

My thoughts exactly.....Same guys that whine and complain about never getting their input heard or listened to are the same ones that will squirm out of it when their input is requested.

-Do your part guys and if you get one or any survey for that matter, take a few minutes out of your life and help out conservation...As was stated by a couple...monetary donations are great, but they don't fulfill the whole bill for Waterfowl Conservation
