This is not a political post. But I was thinking last night on the way home from work listening to the radio they said the California lost 3/4 of there orange crop brcause of freezing Weather. And Way South Texas had snow and freezing temps. It got me thinking, I'm only in my mi 30s and when I was a kid we had tons of snow to play in and was ice fishing on Lake Of the Woods by Thanksgiving end of Nov. Know there no snow for the last 4 years for my kids to sled or play in and you can't ever get on the lake buy end of Jan becasue it's been to warm out to make ice. Theres no snow so there no run off for farmers in the spring so it's always dry. And I heard the polar bears are have problems up there with not much snow and warm temps. I feel somethings just not right. What does everbody else think. Maybe I'm wrong. Thanks Todd

It is getting warmer and I love it. Change the waterfowl season to match it.

I just can not figure out why people are against global warming in Minnesota.

We can not hunt polar bears anymore cause of PETA types so let them feed um".

I want it warmer

Yes I have heard that polar bears are having a hard time too. I heard that they depend on the Ice to get around and to find food , but since the glaciers are melting they are starving to death. The older ones have turned into cannibles, simply because no food. Someday global warming is gonna bite us in the A$$ really damn good.

Some people think that this is awsome weather, which it is. But whenever something good happens there is always a bad repercussion to help balance it out. I'm sure some one might be thinking ''I'm a tree hugger''. Well I'll tell ya, I am far from it. I hunt damn near anything from ducks/geese, wild turkeys, whitetailes, coyotes, rabbits, gophers, to barn pigeons and pesty raccoons.

It's kind of funny how someone posted this subject, when this same topic was just came up at my work last week. Kinda wierd when you think about it. Almost scarey, that's just my 2 -cents worth anyway. :) :) :) :)

I figured something like this would happen with a simple post like this. Hammer007911 I didn't say I didn't like the warm weather, It's just not your normal Nw Minn weather and it's been like this for many years warmer than it should be. And if you want it warmer temps move to South Texas :x .

The real sad part about it is our "advanced" society could change our habits but we are to lazy and self centered to do it. Me quit driving my crew cab NOPE not me. Have only one car "not me"

Get rid of my:

Riding lawn mower (John Deer for the Iowa boys)
String trimmer
73 corvette
500 sportsman wheeler
90 sportsman Wheeler
Fling sport boat
Scooter (gas)
2 xr50's
CRF(X) 250
Zuma
Chain saw
3 arctic cat snowmobiles 1 kiddy cat and 2 440's
And our vehicles to drive with

I am not going to give up my stuff cuz I am selfish. I was in Alaska 7 years ago and you could see at exit glacier is real and we have done nothing as a society to try and curb it. Oh I guess we have tried we have told the starving Africans please do not burn your forest (like we did) we need them to clean the air (we dirty) We know you need farm land but you need to stop making fields.

My kid came home from bible study the other night and the topic was charity giving. I said yeah we give but I am very selfish. He had the numbers like "dad 10 bucks can feed like 92 kids". I said yeah I know but I am so selfish I would rather pay 30 bucks for a bag of dog food for our dog then donate it to a good cause. I look him in the eye and said "I would rather feed a dog then a starving child". Just the way I am.

It is all a joke and you are correct in my mind, one day, no turning back baby! So get out and live it up.

Hey sorry dude did not mean to seam like I was coming down on you. I agree it is not warmer. We have property in Florida I hate the humidity. My folks have a second home in South Texas and I will be there every winter after hunting season. We looked at moving 2 years ago to Denver but our kids are in Elementary and Junior high so we decided against it. So I can only hope it gets warmer up here

me and my dad got into it about this topic the other night. he said that we have a serious problem on our hands. i told him hes been watching to much t.v.

have any of you seen that movie with al gore? its a good movie and gives you a wake up call, but it brain washes you and i disagree with him. its faulty science as some people would say..

Yeah I like heat better than cold, thats why in December when i'm out bowhunting for whitetailes Im dressed like an eskimo because I know If i'm sitting compleatly still for 2+ hour I'm gonna get cold.

dont know to much about global warming......though you call this winter, sure its cold in michigan now! but the last few weeks its been in the upper 30's to 40's and weve only had snow to speak of 3 times about 2-3 " thats it. i really dont think we even got any migrators this year. its been slow the last couple years. seen only a couple flocks of snows! the only birds ive seen lately are our locals. just didnt have the weather to push em down the last couple years so i dunno.....................

science has proven over the years that if in fact global warming takes place antartica will unthaw and you will no longer have the west coast states or florida cause the ocean will raise that much,,,is it true who knows,,i think the weather goes in cycles from year to year

I agree with Silver Webfoot. I think weather goes in cycles. We would be in serious trouble right now if this was actually global warming.

a buddy of mine said that ag farms put out more CO in a day than cars in a year. dont know if its true but i hear how its humans fault for the earth warming but i havent heard to many people remind everyone that the earth is being pulled closer to the sun everyday, i wonder if that will affect our climate? And how is it we are breaking records from a hundred years ago if this is all new? sounds like someones exagerating a problem to make the general public scared, so they can tell them vote for us we have the solution to fix this emergency.

Your kidding me I hope and if you are I took th bait :o

I never actually heard this in a class or course anywhere so I had to find something to explain it better then I could

Question of the Week: Does the earth keep a constant distance from the sun? If not, will the earth get closer to the sun and become more warm?
Question: Does the earth keep a constant distance from the sun? If not, will the earth get closer to the sun and become more warm?

Submitted by Steven S. Showers Newbury Park, California

Answered by Andrew Ingersoll, professor of planetary science, Caltech.

Earth has an eccentric orbit, which means that it moves in a path that is slightly oval in shape. Contrary to what you'd expect, Earth gets closest to the sun every December, and farthest from the sun every June. We in the northerhe maximum eccentricity is about 5 percent and the minimum is near zero, when the orbit is nearly circular. This cycle can be calculated for millions of years, and we know that the glaciers also have cycles of about 100,000 years. The question is whether the glaciers are tied to changes in Earth's eccentricity.

So the bottom line is that Earth does get closer and farther, and it does affect the climate. But the mechanism is not all that clear. Averaged over a year, the distance from the Earth the Sun changes very little, even over billions of years (the Earth is 4.5 billion years old).

What is more important to climatic changes over the eons is the fact that the sun is getting brighter. Earth now gets about 20 to 25 percent more sunlight than it did four billion years ago.

it all has to do with how much carbon dioxide we put out,,like cars and tractors and us as humans,,that determines global warming,,but who knows i dont even like science that much

its actually carbon monoxide-CO not Carbon Dioxide-CO2

Dude you are playing me to the T

It is Co2 it is generated by the primary airs first burn or combustion. Co is a acute killer above 5 parts per million and you are in danger.

We generate Co2 when we breath about 45,000 50,000 parts per million.

I need to shut up this is like being at work

Just putting im my 2 cents but i really hate the hot weather. I love to hunt rabbits when duck and goose is done and now i can barily do that without snow. Finally got our first good snow here in wisconsin so i think where going to wack some!
