It's 81.9 cents a liter were I live, I don't know if that is good or bad if it was converted to gallons. For Canada thats about normal, I was paying $1.35 a liter when the bombing was happening overseas.

I was talking about it with my dad and his explanation was that people can get fed up with gas prices and actually do something about it ie: Walk, Carpool, Work at Home, Stay home on the Weekends ETC ..ETC ..ETC, and actually affect the gasoline companies. But, almost all the delivery type vehicles, Semi Trucks, Fed EX, UPS ETC.. ETC are diesel. Those routes and deliveries have to be made. So diesel is always going to be in demand therefore they are going to stick it to us guys with diesel trucks.
Don't know if he's right, but it makes sense.

thats a funny thing just a couple years ago gas was like $1.89 and diesel was $1.33 in my area

$2.20 Diesel (Someone please explain that to me)
Although diesel is a waste product of gasoline. The sulfer in old diesel fuel was about about 500 parts per million . Now the "EPA" mandated that in oct that the new diesel fuel contain about 5 ppm sulfer. It takes extra steps to get the sulfer out. That is my best explaination of why diesel is now more expensive.
The funny thing is the EPA mandated that all diesel fuel be 5 ppm sulfer but, the largest user of diesel fuel in country is the railroads which just add the sulfer back into the fuel. since sulfer creates lubricity.

Here are some more facts on diesels.
With gasoline prices at record levels and ongoing concern about our reliance on foreign oil, more and more consumers and fleet operators are turning to efficient diesel power. That’s because diesel engines offer a number of key benefits over many other fuels:
*
Diesel vehicles are much more fuel efficient than gasoline-powered vehicles, typically getting 20-40 percent more miles to the gallon
*
Diesel efficiency helps reduce our dependence on foreign oil. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, if 30 percent of all vehicles were diesel powered by 2020, U.S. net crude oil imports would be reduced by 350,000 barrels per day
*
Diesel provides superior power and performance to most gasoline vehicles – an important benefit for American drivers and commercial operators
*
Because diesels burn less fuel, they emit much smaller levels of carbon dioxide – a contributor to global warming – compared to gasoline
Diesels also compare favorably to hybrids and the promise of hydrogen vehicles in the future. Recent surveys by J.D. Power and Associates show that when asked about a preference in new cars, more consumers choose the clean diesel engine over the hybrid options. And, with hydrogen vehicles still decades away from the marketplace, clean diesel is a mature and proven technology that can help meet our environmental and energy goals now – while saving you money. In fact, in Europe, where fuel prices are substantially higher than the U.S., diesel vehicles account for as much as 60 percent of all new vehicles purchases.
Diesel engines are also catching on in the U.S. Diesel engines are currently used in a significant portion of North American vehicles. The percentage of Class 5-7 medium-duty and heavy-duty pickup trucks using diesel engines continues to increase. Today, approximately 85 percent of all medium-duty trucks and 55 percent of all heavy-duty pickup trucks are diesel.
