I was just wondering If Jeff has ever thought of making an all wood meatcutter. I think that it would probaly be very low sounding, and mellow. Just woundering, I have been thinking about that for a while now. :?: :?:
boy that would be a long piece of wood!!! dont know how well it would hold up?

Makes you wonder though don't it? And yeah thats alot of wood. Good question though huh? It would be interesting to see if it would stand the tests of time. :) :)
if not you could always put it in brass candle holder

Just thought it would be a cool idea, It would probably be a little longer call though. As Barry said it would look good in a brass candle holder if it didn't work.

I think it would loose its crispness if it were to be made in wood.

It wouldn't have that crack of acrylic but it would probally have more rasp because it's wood. Wouldn't be as high pitched. Just what I think anyways. :D :D :D :D ''Just another different sound to kill some honkers''

I don't think it would lose all the crispness. I heard a wood Eastern Shoreman at WWII and it was crisp. And lets face it Jeff's calls are the cream of the crop and if an Eastern Shoreman can sound crisp so could the Meatcutter.
i think the call would be way to quiet. I just bought a meatcutter and its a lot quieter than the SMH.

I dunno if any you geese out in the midwest get many residents, but ive found they tend to shy from loud calls especially in the early season, even on a bluebird day when they are a mile up. I have made a few flutes on my lathe and they are more mellow and not as loud but sometimes thats what works, just my 2 cents
