i just purchased a browning maxus for waterfowl hunting. most of my shots are between 30 and 50 yards. what would be the best choke to use? i just want 1 choke that will do it all. not 2 or more chokes for different species. what do you guys suggest?

I shoot the Kicks High Flyer in full out of my SX3. It delivers damn near identical numbers to the factory mod (found out after purchasing the choke:rolleyes:) so I would suggest that you just go pattern the chokes that came with the gun, you'd be surprised.

i've never shot 1 but at those ramges i have heard alot of good on the STRAIT HEAT tube .......{ dont know if ur tube is the same as the invector plus or not }i shoot bolth wad wizard swat12 and wad wizard supreme chokes , my swat i use for ducks/early season goose {15-35 yards } and right now i'm runnin the supreme for those geese with all that fat and the ones who wanna flare off before the final commit . the s.heat seems to b right inbetween those 2 and if it is and it shoots good i'll b just runnin it all the time , instead of swappin out tubes like u were talkin about ...

first off though u should b shootin ur stock chokes with ur waterfowl loads and see what kinda results u get . in some cases the factory chokes cant b beat ....

Ive used numerous extended tubes. The entire season this year i strapped in my factory mod. Patterned 2 or 3 loads alot better than any extended tube.

Try your factory chokes. I had 78% pellet retention in a 30" circle at 40 yards with my SBEII modified using blue-box Federal number 3's. No holes and it seemed to pound the geese just as well as the ducks this year.

I would go with your factory chokes. Sure they dont look as cool as a big bird flaring silver thing sticking out of your gun, but im sure they will do the job. ;)

I would go with the FMI Strait Heat tube.

I love the Strait Heat. Supremes work great so do Feds. Use what works best with your gun. I have a BPS12 and I was shooting a Kick's for a while but didn't like it. I switched back to factory chokes and then I got a Strait Heat and it works great.

I don't care what aftermarket choke you buy if your choke isn't cut to your bore you are never going to find out what your gun can do. Let's face it the nilo tests proved 4 pellets will take a duck down. This was done by a computer doing the shooting and a duck teatherd to a trolly. Perfect shot dead balls everytime.

If I only had one choke then it would be a light Mod. I don't see why guys are using 3.5" shells for what more shot in the air, if your shot is dead on then your going to have a dead bird. Now if you have a huge payload what advantage does it give you. It's not the arrow but the indian at the end of the day.

keep your shots under 40 yards for clean kills and recovering your birds. factory IC has never been a problem at those ranges.

i shoot a Kicks High Flyer in full out of my Benelli SBE2 and it does great i can shoot birds from anywhere from 10ft to 60 yards. it all depends on how good of shot you are and how your gun patterns with the choke and the different loads you use in them.
