The boys at Joe's Sporting Goods here in MN said that Winchester is possibly going under cause of lack of sales in the past few years. Any one hear anything about this?

I think it is more of a restructuring, they are only eliminating the lines that are not selling as well. They lost the lever action market a while back to marlin, and Remington took the Bolt Action away. Their shotguns with the exception of the 1300 which never really took off are still being made. Browning'sparent company apparently owns the business now and will continue to produce the autoloaders and double barrels, as well as a new autoloader rifle the resembles Browning BAR. I don't think their is any worries about Winchester closing up shop, I have seen info about it all over the net, and it seems they are just trimming the fat so to speek.

Just out of curiosity, what makes Joes unreliable? I've had good luck with them.
I'm looking to get a SX2, preferably used. Bad side is, can't afford much more than 500 bones. Seems to be the only semi-auto that fits me good enough to not have to drop my head to the rib.

They are introducing the SX3 this year, the sx2, 3 , and the new SXR? the rifle, are all being made by Browning, something to remember when we say wincheser is going under, Winchester hasn't produced a firearm in a long time, all the winchester guns where produced by U.S.Repeating Arms Corp.(USRAC) and sold under license of the Winchester name.
I shoot Benelli and Browning myself, but if Iwas in the market for a new Winchester autoloader, I wouldn't hesitate, nor worry about the company.

I just got a model 70 back from them. The lady I talked to said they where shutting down the plant that makes the 70,s 94,s and 1300,s. I think they will start making them in Japan like the Brownings. Nothing is confirmed about that yet. Cheap labor I guess.

Browning has owned Winchester Guns for many years. The SX2, SX3 and SX3 rifle will all continue to me made and serviced with the same quality they currently are.
My SX2 is stamped Belgium.

I knew Browning bought them years ago. My BPS , and every A-bolt or BLR I have ever seen was stamped JAPAN . I heard the semi`s where made somewhere else. I guess we will have to wait and see.
