I pulled a reservation at a refuge down south that i'd never hunted before for today. While i was reading up on it i found out that they had a special unit just for JR hunters + 1 adult shooter. After checking into it i hit up my buddy and asked if he would mind pulling his son out of school to go shoot some birds. This is his son's first full season and he's a blast to hunt with. He got the ok from mom and we were on our way. The last few days we've had some serious wind/rain here. Today was no exception. It was a constant 30MPH S wind when we got there. Tough to shoot in when you are new to this. But, we were going to sling steel either way and see what falls. When my number was called i was the only one who'd taken a blind on that unit. We took the one most recomended and were on our way.
After a walk from hell out to the blind dragging my cart through some nast F'n mud we got to the blind and got set up.
Just at shoot time the sky filled with ducks from every direction. It was hard for me to focus and shoot one at a time let alone him. Needless to say there was some flock shooting at it's best being done. =] I made short work of my 7 bird limit (2 pins, mallard, gaddie and 3 teal) and sat back and called my butt off. The birds where eating the Suzie up today, i loved it. At the end of the morning we ended up with our 2 man limit and one hell of a pile of 20GA empties. =] There would have been more pic's but digital cam's and wind driven rain dont mix. I think you can see the decoys rolling in a few of the pics.
