I was wondering what yall use out of the FMI line up for timber huntn, I have a TR acrylic that I thought was to load so I have it up for sale but if this is what I should expect when it comes to timber calls ill just take off the market and use it.

Hey bro, if you want a much softer timber call from Foiles, then check out the STRAIT Timber. Great call for timber huntn', and not nearly as loud as the Timber Rattler.

I agree. My hedge/smoke ST is a lot mellower than my TR.

bolth the timber rattler and strait timber are bolth great timber calls . the s.timber is a softer call but is more of a young hen sound in my opinion , bolth calls compliment each other in timber situations , but if u are lookin for the softer call the strait timber is it .

is ur tr a single or double reed ????

Don't overlook the BGB death whistle. Got one in Hedge/smoke and on the windless days it works great
Feetdown 20 swears by the death whistle. that's what hooked me
good price point too

The BGB Death Whistle is my main call in our timber hole and ill also use a Strait Suzy. Both calls are perfect for the timber.

down here in the south, we pretty live in the trees come duck season! I run an acrylic single reed tr because of its hold on whinny quacks and has that flat bounce to it. I can also break a bunch of ducks that are sky high with the single reed to get their attention. The death whistle was my money maker this year. Quiet and mellow, and down right nasty for switching cadences. It is pure duck and beats any poly insert call I have blown. I wouldn't go selling that timber rattler if I were you, You might just need to tune it a certain way so it doesn't echo as much. Get one of your buddies to walk down fifty yards from you and blow it and its a lot quiter than you think! Also try blowing strait down to the water in the timber to keep from blowing right at the ducks. Use your hands to throw your sounds around and manipulate the call a little bit. Hope that helps...and I'm off my soap box, but someone said timber and I came running!

For timbers and secluded areas, I use both the Strait Timber and the Timber Rattler.

TR in double reed+wood is a very mellow call. BGB death whistle double reed is a must for low down nasty. .02
