Ive been blowing a Lohman goose flute and a big rivers goose flute. I was looking to get a foiles. I was wondering what would suite me best. Either the SMH..MC..MG..i was guessing the MC since its a flute but i didnt know if it was hard to blow and if it sounded just as "goosey" as all the other calls

i would try each one of them beofre u buy one,,goin from flute to short reed is very diff but u can always learn to blow a short reed,,so try em before you buy em
there all real goosey,
if you like the flute and are used to blowing one id suggest to stay with the flute. but it will be a transition though cause those elcheapo's really blow easy. if your wanting a short reed then try the meatgrinder, but then again why not go all out and get a SMH. just my .02 cents worth

the Meat Cutter flute sounds great, and really has a place on every short reed callers lanyard. Like it has been said on this forum before the MC really has that old gander sound. If you are wanting to make the switch to short reed, any of our short reed calls will work for you, the important thing is to not give up, and practice, practice, practice. I used flutes for 20+ years and then made the switch, I sounded like a dieing dog for the first several days, but eventualy it just clicked. Good luck deciding, and good luck with the transition. oh, I would also recommend you pick up Jeff's DVD to help you learn the short reed, the info and techniques on it are an invaluable tool in learning the short reed.

Jeff hit it right on the head! The Pro and Field staff would never steer you wrong. I would just walk into a store that carries Foiles and knock out a few notes to see which one suites you best...and definetly get Callin' Geese 2.0.

If you get an MC and/or an MG you'll agonize over an SMH so you might as well get it over with right off the bat. It's the essential, do-it-all call every serious goose hunter should have.

I just posted 2 calls on Ebay...Strait Meat Cacker numbered 0121 and a Meat Cutter numbered 1368. SMC is green and the MC is smoke. There the only two Foiles calls on Ebay. Just an FYI for the lads that appreciate the Best of the Best!!
