My wife lost her droid in AZ over the weekend. She has insurance on mine cause I will lose or break it. But shes never broke or lost a phone so she didnt get it for hers. Well now its $700 for a new one, and we cant use our old phones cause droid has a different contract with verizon. So if we cancel the contract it will be $400, and we will have to start a new contract and Im back at $700.
With my new custom call comin, moline and snow goose huntin in march Im kinda screwed. Gonna have to give somethin up. Please help

If anyone can help me out getting a new one for cheap, There could be a nice reward.

Ebay wont let us in the account for some reason.

Bob...Told you to put those dang phones on home owners or under renters insurance...Same thing goes with the Iphone...It's bs that companies can do that to you, I turned att into the better business beareau for not being able to purchase and insurance plan on the Iphone, I was receiving numerous phone calls within days..

there is no reason Verizon couldn't reactivate your old phone....thats BS...i bought a new phone back in Jan. and in 3 days it was not working. Until I got my replacement they said they couldn't activate my old phone for time being....I told them to keep both phones and cancel my contract and by some kinda magic my old phone was turned on....I would call them and be stern....they are a BILLION dollar company and no reason they cant help you out.period.....sorry for the rant but your the customer and they should work with you!

Major Pain is right. If you go in there and make enough noise they will help you. Ask for the manager, and if he wont help ask to speak to his boss.

I just got my first smartphone last week after looking at them for a couple of weeks. I am also a verizon customer. I have 2 questions for you.

1. Did you have a smartphone before with the web add-on package?
2. Did you change your plan?

Verizon just changed their plans and rules concerning smartphones. To get a smart phone you need to add a $29.99 or higher web package to your calling plan. It is just that an add-on. Can be discontinued at any time but will need to change back to a regular phone. You can get a new phone without changing your plan(new every 2). You may also add the $30 or higher web plan if you purchase a smartphone without changing your plan.

This can all be done on your account at MyVerizon. Reactivate your old phone discontinue your add on web package etc. If you find a new phone activating it can be done through the website. No need to go see the high school punk at your locale verizon store.

If you changed your plan to the all inclusive talk, text and web then you will need to find a smartphone to replace the lost Droid. Ebay(be careful of knock-offs) or craigs list may be your best bet. May be able to find a deal at Walmart on a smartphone too

This is Dawn.....First, let me clarify Bob's comments. Droid is with Verizon, so the reason we couldn't use one of our old phones is because it would've disrupted our shared plan that has the extra data package unnecessary for many previous models. Verizon is awesome. The only problem I have is the sales associate who sold us the Droids talked me out of insurance on my phone in effort to get the bill down, because not only are the phones expensive, but even the cheapest plan with the add on data package and insurance for one line is $170 a month. We almost didn't get them, because the premium plan we were is cheaper and seemed sufficient yet not compatible withe the Droids. Since I haven't ever lost or broke a phone, he talked me into not getting the insurance for the most expensive phone I ever owned because it would be a waste of money. Yeah I know, I know, but it was around the holidays and everything was hectic at the store. So, since we just paid the first pro-ration bill from changing to the new plans, I didn't want to disrupt the bill by changing to either two single plans or removing the data package, because there were technical issues involved with doing that. I worked for Sprint almost 10 yrs ago, so I know all of the annoying wireless bs that can happen with phones being primary or secondary lines, etc. etc.

I went to the Verizon store and they wanted $700 with tax for a new Droid, but when I went to Walmart it was $500 so I got it there. Of course, the guy at Walmart wasn't very bright, so I called for the insurance as I was walking out the door because he wasn't capable. The guy at Walmart wasn't even sure I could get insurance on a phone purchased without a new contact! The Verizon rep needed to talk to the sales associate to prove I bought the phone and then after that the insurance was put on again. The end...won't happen again.
