I am planning on purchaseing a new e-collar this summer. I am looking for something compact for hunting any where and condition. I am looking for a 1/4 to 1/2 mile range. Does anyone have any idea's and why.

buy a tri tronics never had a problem fully waterproof and 1/2 mile true range and there warranty is bar none the best out there. they are a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

SportDog is what i use, i love it, the trasmiter is small, half the size of "other" brands so its not a hassel to have it hooked to your belt loop or on your lanyard, and they have one of the best customer service i have ever seen in a company, i had a couple questions about force fetching and within 3 days i had a package in my mail box full of any info they could give me, check out there line-up, you wont be disappointed

I have owned 2 different tri-tronics and had good luck with them (still have one). I know own 2 DOGTRA collars. I prefer Dogtra as the options seem better and the service has always been great. Both of my dogtras are the for upland. Variable intensity from the transmitter and control over the beeper function as well. I have not used a newer tri-tronics in over 10 years.

On the sportdogs I've been told that there is no on/off switch on the transmitters. Is this true?
