Got this idea from a friend on another forum. Lay out some things about life, outdoors, or hunting specific that when you think about it just makes you crack a smile.
Here is mine-------
The smell of a spent shotgun shell
Roaring sound of a Fighter aircraft taking off at day break and seeing the afterburner in the distance
Shaking hands with a military Vet and the respect felt for each other
Sounds funny but the smell of a dirt scented cover scent wafer
The closing handshake after a good day of hunting
The first couple minutes after meeting up with your hunting buddies in the morning before a days hunt
The first hug from my wife after a deployment
The look on my sons face a bird falls
The phone call to my old man during a hunt when he says "how did you do"
A good nap in a layout blind
lets hear them guys...........

The crunch of a leaf just before that big ole buck walks out
The laughter in camp after a successful hunt....or a few misses
The stories from the old guys telling the history of your club to the newer member...(this is especially best for me, my grandfather started our club but died before i knew him, so all the stories make it seem like he was there with me)
Seeing the excitement after someone's first kill
Breakfast cooked on a pot bellied stove
The silence right before sunrise that lets you know you are part of something created for everyone to enjoy

4:30 in the morning walking to the blind hearing the Woodies fly over us.
The smell of the powder after the first shots have been fired
The smell of the beaver pond
Coming in late to a lecture still waering all my hunting gear and smelling like the marsh
Introducing 21 new people to waterfowl hunting.
Standing on the shores of Lake Ontario and Superior in December hunting divers.
Seeing that are hentubes we put up were takin over by 11 Black duck breeding pairs
I bowfish constantly, so this might sound weird but waking up in the morning or actually afternoon and smelling my hands and smelling fish. And the PURE silence I hear when elk hunting in colorado every year.

the first sound of wings before you can see the birds
the owls hooting and the turkeys gobbling just before daylight
getting in the blind after putting out the decoys and they are all perfectly in place
that first roar of a flight of canvasbacks breaking over the decoys at a blistering speed

Seeing the look on some of my best friends faces when they shot thier first duck.
A tom gobbling 60 yards behind you that you didn't even know was there.
Cycling the first shell into the chamber after setting up the decoys.
Setting foot on American soil after beeing overseas for 10 months.
Not realizing untill 30 minutes after shooting my first banded duck that it was banded.
Opening a care package from many of the GREAT folks from the forum and finding a AAS SMH inside!!!

Sitting in the blind and closing my eyes and just listening.
Hearing the first honks on opening morning.
Talking with buddies waiting for birds to come in.
Giving my nephews their first duck calls for christmas.
Taking my nephew hunting every thanksgiving and taking him out for breakfast after.
Heart racing as I watch birds come in to the decoys waiting to take the shot.
Birds circling over head trying to decide if they want to come in.
The smell of egg, bacon and peanut butter sandwichs being cooked in the blind. Trust me they are good.
Hearing decoys hit the water

Talking to my son about the days hunting while he is deployed. Watchin my grandsons sqaullin on my old duck calls and their moms complainin about the noise. Watching the moon or sun set over the marsh.
The smell of a wet lab.
The sound the decoys make when they hit the water as you throw them out.
The look the dog gives you when he realizes that you missed that fat greenhead at the end of your barrel.
The look the dog gives you when you make it up to him by sharing your nutty doughnut with him.
Seeing the smile on your kids face not because they made their first kill but because they get to be outdoors spending time with dad

Meeting up with a hunting buddy of over 25 years, and KNOWING his ability....
Sitting out in the middle of a cut cornfield waiting for geese and having that first cup of coffee...
The ignominy of having to run to a woodline after the THIRD cup of coffee and the imminent "colon blow"...
Going to Braidwood Lake IL and watching many thousands of birds, and having a good portion of them come by you at shooting distance....
The anticipation of "opening morning"
