Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between a SS barrel and a SMM barrel? I have two SMM... and I wanted to put a SS insert in a SMM barrel and basically make a SS call. Will this get me a SS or no? Thanks for any tip you might have.

Personally...I use my SS insert in my TR barrel and sometimes my DMM barrel. Just fits my mouth better but I can use the SS barrel as well. So to answer your question..you'll be fine.

Do you notice any volume differences with the SS insert?

I measured and tested it and they inserts for the smm ans ss are pretty much identical. The only differnece i notice is the SS insert has a larger opening. The barrel for the SMM and SS are a little different in size, maybe 1/8" so your barrel chamber is smaller. I swaped both and they seem to blow almost like when kept normal. The only difference there was the SS insert has more volume than the SMM insert, but you can get low with it as well. As low as it allows. Maybe since the barrel chamber is larger.
