Just wondering which one you guys preffered, also can i get some pros and cons of both guns. I now shoot a remington 1187 and really like it but im looking for something thats can shoot 3 1/2 inch shells and have heard alot of good things about these guns and would like your input. Would also like to know which one has less recoil. Thanks

You're probably going to get a lot of pro-benelli responses here. I have both. The beretta definately has less felt recoil. At the end of the day, they are both great guns and you can't make a wrong decision. Just go handle them and buy whichever one you want to.

You cant go wrong with either decision. Ive had both of them and yes the beretta has a less recoil, because of its kick off system. I find the benelli to be more close and compact to you rather then the beretta though. So just fool around with both of them and maybe find a few people that own both of those guns and shoot them a few times and see for yourself

great advise....this might be going over board but try it with something close to what you'll be wearing for hunting...sometime a gun will shoulder differnt with a heavy coat on in a layout blend.....again kinda over board

Why do you feel the need for a 3 1/2 inch gun? Just curious.

ditto on what Greg said. dead is dead, 3.5 doesn't kill 'em any deader than 3...
I know - 'but if I run out of shells and all anyone has is 3.5s I'll be hosed...'
stop it - carry a couple extra shells...

There's pros and cons to both, I like the pistol grip on the Beretta and like the forearm of the Benelli. The rib on the Beretta is perfect where the stupid step rib on Benelli plain ol sucks the onely reason it's there is the stock is to low. The Beretta you can take off part of the pad as the clothing gets thicker as the season moves into colder weather. The Benelli you deal with a pad that feels like it wants to fall off. Now if your a lefty like myself you can swap out the saftey on the Benelli and the Beretta forces you to buy a trigger for the lefty.
At the end of the day none of that matters, what really matters is gun fit if one fits better than the other that is the one you go with. I've shot Perazzi's that wouldn't fit and would have enjoyed a Mossberg at that time.

i shot a 10 gauge for years before i went to the 3 1/2 12 gauge. i got tired of packing an 11 pound gun to the blind. but for pure killing patterns the 10 gauge cant be beat. Now i can do with one gun sbe2 what i used to have 3 for. love the sbe2, but if it comes out in a 4 inch i will get me one. ha ha ha .................................R

I used a SBE2 at a gun club a few weekends ago, had a hard time cycling low brass shells. Don't know if that is a common problem or not.

Really? every Benelli I owned didnt like magnum rounds?
C'mon man there a huntin' gun, not a skeet shooter. There isnt any hunting gun (brand) that really shoots low brass well, read the owners manuals 2 3/4 3 dram rounds or higher. You want sumptin' fer shootin clays reliably, can we say Remington?...lol!

I was in your shoes a couple of months ago! Do not buy a gun based off of what we are telling you. Like all the prior replies, you have to get out there and shoot them and at the very least shoulder them. You have done the easy part by choosing your guns now you need to do the homework and make your choice "daniel son". Sorry watched the new "kirate kid" last night lol !
