This might be a stupid question, but here it goes....
What makes a competition call a competion call? I have the showtime call and a Money Maker call and want to get into more competion calling and was wondering what the difference was between that and the SMH or a Money Maker call or just a regular acrylic high end call? I have done some tuning on my SMH and can get it to sound just as loud and crisp as the Money Maker or Showtime. Maybe you can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks
Dave

I don't have any experience with the Money Maker but the Showtime is made to be louder and use less air which in turn will make it a faster call in my opinion. That is why the acrylic is much thinner on the Showtime than your SMH.

I forgot to ask also about a comp. set of guts vs. a regular set of guts? What is the difference and how important is it to have over a rugular set of guts? The show time has the regular guts in it correct?
Thanks for putting up with the simple questions

To the best of my knowledge Foiles doesn't have a different set of guts for comp calls. All my calls have the green guts, but the meatgrinder has grey guts.

Dave...I will try to answer your question like this....the reeds and guts are the same in comp call as any other of our acrylic calls....the green guts...with the same shaved reeds
you can blow a competition with any of our calls. the original Strait Meat Honker has a history of many many wins and is a great call in its own right.....however the comp calls started with a flared out insert...bigger bore diameter...then it progressed to the longer flared insert like what the Canadian Classic came with....
this was done originally for a louder, mellower sound...
now...the comp calls are alot more bored out...the barrel as well as the insert. This is done for a couple of reasons...volume for one....
as well as greater versatility that lends itself a little more towards more advanced callers...however...the Showtime is still a great all around call...
you can impress the judges or kill birds just as easily...a GREAT call.
hope this helped a little..

This clears things up a little for me concerning Comp Inserts. I have 2 Comp Inserts, one is the same length as the Classic but has a bored out end. Could this be the original Comp. Insert?
The other comp. Insert that I have is 1/4" longer. Could this be the CC Insert? Just guessing but when you order a Comp. Insert can you specify which one you want? For some reason I really like the longer of the two Comp. Inserts!

I have an ivory Money Maker
Scheels has the "cotton candy" money maker. From what I heard from talking to Clay at Zink, they have not been released yet but he sent me a few to sell at work

The shorter flared insert is the original comp insert that was used to win the 2000 World's in Easton. The longer flared insert came out a couple of years later and I think is the one that was introduced in the Canadian Classic call. I hope I'm not telling you wrong on this.
