New guy here. I like the way you guys roll at Foiles. I'm looking to upgrade my junk goose calls and develop some skills with goose calling. I've already purchased the 2.0 dvd. My question is about the SMH. Is there a reduction of sound quality if the call is dipped in the MAX 4 camo?

In my opinion YES. Have a friend that wanted all MAX4 calls and it made them sound hallow, they didnt have the crack of a non dipped acrylic. I like the look of them, however it isnt worth the loss of sound that you get by dipping them.

In my opinion NO...I have many calls that are dipped and many that are not. The only difference is the film dip. Under the film, the call is still an acrylic call. The sound difference, if any, is beyond negligible.
I have an HPH in all ivory (my comp call) and and HPH in MAX-4 (hunting call)...both calls sound equivalent. The hails all the way to the murmurs are right on with each. Same with my SMHs. After blowing Foiles calls for over 6 years now....I have yet to hear a difference in tone between a dipped call and an all acrylic.
Call the shop and talk to them there....see what they say.

Yeah, My brother in-law has a Max 4 Meat Cutter and it sounds pretty close to mine. Derek, maybe it was just the caller or you have really good ears! :D

All I can say is Tyler and I both tried for days to get that thing in tune and it still sounded the same no matter what. I think it was a call flaw.

Probably had an issue with the guts......i have a set of guts that have a very very small chip right in the groove i mean you really have to look to see it.....totally F-ed up the way my call sounded had to switch them out...theres soooo many little things with the guts in these calls that can make or break the call in my opinion....9 times out of 10 its the guts and not the call itself..........just my $.02

They ended up replacing the entire call with a non dipped acrylic.
