X2 on the Strait Meat Honker. The best advise I can give is go listen to live birds in a field in a park or anywhere you can find them. Try to memorize the sounds that they are making and when they are making them. Then practice practice practice. When you are out hunting pay attention to what sounds the birds react to. If you make a note that turns them stay on it. If you start to lose them try a different note. Most of the time for me the note that I turn them with will be the same note that I finish them with. Every flock is different so try to learn as much as you can. Remember the goose is always adapting so we as hunters must do the same. Good luck!

blew a duck call for years and just got into goose hunting last year. so i have been working a short reed goose call for just about a year. started with a buck gardner canada hammer 2. pretty easy to work imo. didn't find his CDs too helpful though. i went from that to an acrylic buck gardner that was a little harder to work, but i liked it. bought the bad grammer CD and it helped a lot. i've since bought a custom hedge call, a foiles meat grinder (which is a really good call for the money and easy to work), a 3 tim grounds calls (super thang, poly-carb super mag, & an acrylic super mag). went out and bought bad grammer DVD and that was a tremendous help. worked a little with one of the pros on this site and he was helpful as well. basically, it has become an addiction and i love it.

but to Hoppe's point, he is right. go and listen to birds - they are the best teachers (thats basically how the bad grammer dvd/cd teaches). but find a call you are comfortable with and learn it. ask questions on here and ask questions at the place you buy your call. and dont be afraid to work the call when you are in the store (cabelas, bass pro, wherever). dont want to just buy something w/o trying it and then not like it. i have done that before.....and learned my lesson!

sry for the rant but i hope this helps. once you find your call or calls - practice and practice some more. and whack some honkers!!!
