Do you have to have full body goose decoys?? I just have shells and silhouettes.. Do you think that could do the job?? I don't have the money for a tailor and 5 dozen bigfoots...

Decoys are a small part of killing birds.
Worry most about your hide.
Shells and silo's killed a ton of birds long before full bodies were even thought of,and still do today.

What do you need to kill them? LOCATION AND BIRDS!
I've got decoys, trailer, gun, ammo, blinds. What I don't have right now is birds. I'd glady trade you some full bodies for your birds and a couple shells and silo's!
Focus on your hide, your gear will work.

Travis offered to help you out when you started asking questions earlier in the year - take him up on his offer - you won't likely find a better one anywhere.

Yes obviously you need birds but to answer your question NO you do not need FB's to kill geese. We use all shell's and silo's and smack them just as good as anyone else.As you get money you can add to it if you want but what you have is fine. I dont care what anyone says you dont need 3000 decoys to limit out. Many times we dont even put out all that we have and were done before the coffee is cold in the cup holder of the trucks.

Well we have geese in our area. Just for an example we were hunting a field that was chopped and disked. And there was a guy in another field half a mile away..... His field had manuar on it. That might have been the reason they went too his field and not ours. But they came over our decoys, circled and then went and light right in his decoys.... it made me about the maddest person in the world....

It's so hard to say could have been the spread, calling, blinds or guy's not hidden good. Not saying that IS what it was so don't take it the wrong way, OR it's the fact they they are just wild animal's with their own mind set and sometimes no matter how hard you try or want to you are not going to get them to cooperat and that's it. It happens to all of us and anyone that say's otherwise is lying. Just try to evaluate what happend, check all of the above mentioned item's and if you think everything looks and sounds good then it's like I said they just didnt want to be where you were.

Well I understand that. they have been in that guys field for a week. Its just that when that sort of thing happens a lot of thoughs go racing through your mind, and you think that you did something wrong. But i can figure it out..

One thing that I have learned over my time hunting is think about it enough to correct it but dont start thinking about it too much that it get's you mentally down or in a slump. Same thing with shooting if you miss well yeah that sucks but dont get down on yourseld just keep thinking forward. Alot of hunting is a mental game as well. You will be fine.

Ok thanks for the advise. I am anxious to get back out and try again. The reason that I am thinking about it so much is because I have never killed a goose in Utah.. Or in a corn field. So this is all new to me and im really not to sure about what im doing.

I fully understand and it's awesome that you're into it like this. It is trial and error and learning from your mistake's as well as when everything just goes right. It will happen and you will get it just keep at it. Good luck and be safe. Post up the pic. of the geese you smash when you get'em.

Flags and calling will help you.. I pull geese off peaple all the time, and they do the same to me..Its more fun though when we do it to them.. Got to remember the geese that are here are all local geese and they have had there A$$'s shot off for a month.. They are getting very wise.. Sometimes you need to change things up..
We need to get some weather in and move some of our birds around.. My offer still stands.. Let me see what is going on this weekend. I will scout the rest of the week..
