What is the lifespan of canada geese? A buddy of mine claims to have a band that is twenty four years old.... I looked for a thread on this, but didn't see one.. thanks

its true....a buddy of mine killed a banded one in December that was over 18 yrs old...

I believe that the avg life span of a goose is approx. 17-20 years old. There have been alot of banded geese taken well in their twenties. They know where the golf coarses are along their migration. :)

i believe it. i heard the oldest snow was like 27 years old. in this webtie about 7/8 ths of the way down there is a Q and A part and said that the oldest goose was 24.

I agree with Richie....ive hear on adverage is 17-20.....and many reports of well over 20......



that really blows your mind when you think the barage of Ish that goose has had slung at him every hunting season, and the fact that a 20 year old goose...migrated 40 times.....there and back.....thats really awesome to think about......but thats gotta be the one group of geese that took a hard look at you and just kept flying....thats that ole gander out front saying " NOPE "...lol

Not that I don't believe y'all, but I've got some "insider" info that this guy is known to have a line of crap a mile long. Just wanted to have some ammo, but looks like it might be on the up and up. According to the guy, there is a chance it may appear in DU. magazine.... I think I smell somethin'....... it might be a load of $h!t

I read in DU one time that the oldest goose was 27 years old, duck...get this one...29 year old Canvasback.

I also read that if a Snow Goose lives past it's first year, on average it will live to be 7-10 years old.
