my brouther in law loves to goose hunt with us but he won't get in a lay down blind he has bad legs. he has a blind that measure 3 ft wide 4 ft long and about 30 inches high no stubble straps on it looks like corn stalks but it flares the birds every time because of the hieght of it in the field. I suggested digging it down in the ground but he won't do it and it's limits us to where we can hunt when he goes with us. any ideas would help . thanks ahead of time

I don't know who made them but there is a giant goose decoy chair. They come up on ebay from time to time. Back in the day before all these blinds became the rage, we used and em and just killed geese. Of course that was when the limit was 1.

there's some newer blinds that offer more comfort for the bigger guy. look at cabellas and do the research. if your stuck with the ole' box first mud it up real well. then you need to find a way to camo it with natural vegation or artificial or maybe a combo of both. if you can't attach easily then have someone with upholstry experience sow some on.

here's others:

make some type of sides that slope to break up the sharp lines and you can rake some vegatation on it.

make a fake hedge row or vegatation patch off to the SIDE to hide him......and tell to him to only call when working traffic in....WHEN THE BIRDS COME IN!!!!! HAVE HIM STOP CALLING A LITTLE SECRET THEY CAN LOCATE WHERE THE SOUND IS COMING FROM!!..they will locate that big blind and pin point him that's why they might be flaring. the rest of you calling if you you don't have the best hide then limit your calling. spit notes, tripple clucks running the train sell calls not always needed to kill them. it's ok to call to there tails and slow it down to moans or murmurs when they are approaching to set in. too many people reach for there calls first reach for you gun. a bad note can spoil it too so get yout best caller to finish them. don't be too proud to use a hedge row or hunt to the side of the spread and put a little down wind. if you see them flaring they see you have one look out with face paint or mask and have everyone else hide and don't look out the pit boss can give then play by play and call the shot.

we don't set our blinds often in the center of the spread we alot of times put em off to the sides and get the passing shot as they drop into the back pocket you get the beak to the behind the wings for a kill shot or break a wing. if he has mobility issues it would be a easier shot for him and could afford a little more time window for the shot so calling it too early or late would mean less.

the main thing is have fun and learn as you go to what works for you guys. the enjoyment is the journey not the destination...have a good and safe year hunting

Tie burlap strips to it and drag it through the fields. The burlap picks up cover from the field and blends. Glad to hear you takin people hunting that need help.

Wildfowl makes the chair when I first read this I thought about the chair most comfortable blind on the market.
