Take your Calling mentallity out of Goose and Duck....lol.....its really hard if you have no idea....im not the best out there by far.....but make sure the call is sitting firmly against the top of your mouth.......make sure the bump on the Diaphram call is pointed down, and with the base not the tip or your tounge, press up against the call and build pressure behind it.....then lower your toung to release the pressure and vibrate the latex to make a sound....its hard to explain.....but once you figure out how to at least make a sound on it..then you can figure it out from there...it takes almost as much practice as a goose call i think...only without the hands lol......

There are a lot of good instructional vhs and dvd movies out there. Quaker Boy and primos make great ones for learning how to master the mouth call. There are key words to try to say when you are first getting started like for a yelp the word "Chuck" and for a cluck the word "puck" Once you get the cluck and yelp down you wont really be saying the words anymore just the air and tongue pressure to say the words. I think the same advice for calling geese goes for turkeys and that is dont try to pick the call up and start cutting and fly down cackles right off the bat. Once you learn the basic cluck and yelp and master them then you can build off of that. The rest of the calls are just speeding up the cluck for cutting and speeding up the yelp for fly down cackles. Rhythm is everything. Best advice I have is like I said buy the movies. Once you call in a longbeard and have him gobbling in your face at 20yrds you will be hooked man. Good luck.

they are kind of hard to use at first but once you get the hang of it is the nicest thing to call turkeys with.

Perosonally I'm not a big fan of HS Strut mouth calls. They don't fit my mouth right even if I trim them and I think they are harder to use. I learned on a Diamon Cutter and it was fairly easy.

Rush, I'm with ya on that. I have a Primos diamond yelper, diamond cutter, and double diamon. They're all good calls. I think they're all 2 reed calls.

Smoke, my advice would have went like Dropem posted at the beginning this thread. That's all I can tell ya if you've never used one.

Primos piggyback calls are the cats a$$. Get the green one and the redish one. Both are awsome. Don't get the black triple reed it's a little tricky being it has 3 separete frames for each layer of latex. Quaker Boy makes good mouth calls too.

The mouth calls for turkey are one of those things you have to keep trying to blow them when learning, It will probaly pi$$ you off more than not. When you get frustrated put it away and pick it up again in acouple hours or so. After a while you will pick the call up and wam, you will be able to make proper yelps on it. Once you learn to yelp everything else is easy, they are one of those calls when learning you gotta piss around with it for a while. Hope this helps you, :D :D :D

While keeping your tongue touching the bottom of the diaphram, I say the word "chaulk" five to seven times. It's pretty much the opposite of blowing, say, an SMH; where you have to keep your tongue behind your bottom teeth.

Mouth calls aren't "the end-all-be-all", but they sure come in handy when you need both hands to start getting your gun ready.
