Any crow hunters out there? I have now been crow hunting for 2 years and basically no the in and outs of crow hunting. Just seeing if there are any wiser hunters that have a different idea or a different approach that I might not have come up with. Any information would help a lot!

I dont crow hunt but I've thought about it. We have a few in our area and right now theres nothing to hunt until the snows show up.

i live for crow hunting. it is probably one of the funnest and funniest things to hunt. you should hear millers mouth call. its so deadly. if theres a crow within 700 yards it will come in and it will get killed.

Up here in northern IL the West Nile Disease almost killed them off. They're finally starting to make a comeback.

Yes ,the fighting crow cd's work. Do not shut them off once you have started playing them for any reason. Once they are close turn the volume down a little so they don't pin point in on your position.
A fighting set -up is apparently the best set up you can use. Put some crow decoys in the trees near you and put your owl decoy in there, turn on the fighting crows or crow reveille and let r go. Have lots of ammo your gonna need it. Hope This Helps, Good Luck (ps) Go to www.crowbusters.com for more info on hunting them.

Ummm, I've never been actually crow hunting but know how it's done. Me and Al went goose hunting one day on the local river and he was dying laughing when I started trying to call crows in with my mouth. Long story short, I killed 2 honkers, a greenhead and 8 bonus crows!!! Al was still laughing as I piled 'em up, which I dunno why. Nothing funny about it. "Don't move Al, he's coming....caw cacaawww caaaawww"......BOOM.....KERPLUMK!!!
Maybe if I get bored tomorrow, I'll put a sound file of me calling crows with my mouth.

I crow hunt, like others i use the whole fight setup but i keep the owl on the ground and i read somewhere that the crow decoys all have to be above the owl. Also a good trick is to put a black sock or something near the feet of the owl to simulate a dead crow this really gets them going. I have an e-caller usually on the crow fight or crow/owl fight. Its something fun to do while you wait for spring turkey/snow goose season. Plus you gotta love the death noises they make on the way down!!!!!

We hunt them kind of like waterfowl. We see a field that they like and set up the next morning in our layout blinds with dekes. We just leave them where they lay as well most of the time. A guy my dad works with makes BBQ crow from time to time and it's not that bad.

Oh come on, you've never tried any crow, muskrat, or coon? The American Legion back in my small hometown has a wild game dinner every year. If you can kill it or trap it in Ohio, they usually have some of it. I always try something new. I guess my favorite would have to been beaver tail.
yes,
rushcreek ive tried some of the other animals at a wild game dinner where they wouldnt tell ya what it was so you wouldnt hurl on the floor.
but i knew the guy's and they told me what it was actually pretty good for possium, coon, snake, ground hog yes ground hog..........but the thought of crow reminds me of seagull..........disease infested rats with wings.
ooooohhhhh no not again....................................yup...... .
just kiddin..............or maybe not...........................that was close

Well all that i do is find a really brushy spot with a few big trees and get low turn on the Crow/owl fight, and they come close just to see what happens, then you no what happens!!!
