I am moving to Bozeman, MT for college next year, and i was wondering what the waterfowl hunting is like there. I want to know if its hard to hunt around there and if there are any birds. If anybody has any answers please write me. Thanks
Take a fly rod, from what I hear, Great area, Thats where my favorite non-waterfowl company is located, Simms Fishing products, so something good has to be there :D

Bozeman is not known as a waterfowl mecca. However, you can get into the ducks along the Gallatin River. About 60 miles north is a waterfowl management area on the southern end of Canyon Ferry Lake - just outside of Townsend. You can get into really good upland shoots as well.

I don't hunt a lot around Bozeman, but there is some great duck hunting to be had. Also, the stream water law in Montana gives you great stream access as far as public land. This translates to you doing well next year. Just explore like crazy down on the river and find out what areas the ducks like to hang out at.
Also there are two Must do things in the area.. First is eat at Sir Scotts Oasis in Bozeman. The second is head towards Belgrade and shoot gophers and rock chucks.... Bring LOTS OF AMMO for the dogs and chucks.... Finally watchout for Rattlers, shot one almost 5 feet long in a convience store parking lot when we were there..
