This may sould like a stupid question, but I am new to the waterfowl sport only been at it for two years. What reference do the numbers on the calls have. What do the numbers mean?

they are numbered to 5000 then all the calls after that are not numbered. the very low numbered are the first ones out of production.

Is the lower the number the better the call, or due they all sound the same.

no difference in the calls...you will notice that for some reason some guys think that having a number on the call confers some special sort of status, but i'm not sure why...

It really doesn't mean anything besides you have on of the first 5000 made. I don't know why but I would rather have a numbered call than a non numbered call.

This is humane nature Iowa M8'er. Humans have tendency to want things other can not have. If you have call 3457 no one else can have that call. With no numbers many people have the "same call".

If you can get over that mind issue you will save yourself a ton of cash in a life time and have more cash to spend on other toys.

any call you have is a call no one else can have - it's a zen thing...kinda like you can't step in the same river twice...

There is actually a slight difference between the real low numbered SMH's. The insert is a slightly different shape. Same basic shape as the "others", but the angle is sharper and I believe a little bit shorter.

A buddy of mine has #34 or 37, not sure bit it is one of those.
