i am wondering if anyone has a preference to blow a single or double reed call when imitating the mallard feed chckle?

Nope...I don't have a preference because both are extremely effective when done correctly. When it comes to speed and versatility...like for a duck routine..you can only accomplish this on a single. But on the other hand...a double reed is very ducky..and feed chuck can be extremely deadly. All in all..both have their advantages. Just my 2 cents!

Is there any suggestion on how to get faster for that rolling feed chatter for comps. I need to get more consistent on my speed and control of that sound.

Well..when I feed call it sounds a lot like..." tooka tooka tooka tooka" and you do this as fast as you can with little tounge flips. I bring the tip of my tounge up behind my teeth to the roof of my mouth and say that over and over as fast as you can. After you get good at that..you want to throw some quacks into it that blend in PERFECT. "tooka tooka tooka tooka aint tooka aint tooka tooka tooka" if that makes any sense at all. It takes a lot of practice to get good at it..I'm happier where i'm at now..but it can and will get better. Just be consitent every routine. Good luck and hope this helps ya..holler if you have any more questions!

i like the single reed more beacuse you can do it faster and without sweeks.

As the migrator posted. I also use the tooka... mixed with a ticcada occasionally, with an aint.
tooka tooka tooka tooka tooka tooka ticcada ticcada aint tooka tooka tooka tooka.
It is all based on tongue training. Once you get the speed of the word with constant pressure the sound will get where you want. Keep in mind that it is not going to sound any faster then you can move your tongue. If you have a slow tongue, you will have a slow chuckle.

i struggle too do a good double cut feeding chuckle on my double reed TR, other calls im fine, just a little too much rasp for the double cut, so i just do a single cut feed with lota of quacks, witch for duck killin is perfect but since your looking for a comp chuckle im no help.

For competition a single reed is preferred, I tell you the new Dead Meat is awesome even in a double reed. I can get just as fast on a double reed as a single reed. I use dooga, dooga. Start out slow and make a correct sound one after another, then you'll start to get faster and faster. Unfortuneately there is not miracle fix, just practice, practice, practice. Good luck.

Hi dude,
I use an exaggerated hum in the call, I mix that in with the chuckles, it gives that sound mallards make when thy are circling to land, it puts em' right in your face !!!!
