I have been practicing for awhile on my SMH but I can't get the moan. It sounds like someone trying to get the reed to pop by blowing more air and then runs out and goes into a lower tone. Any help would be appreciated.

It's all about controlling the air with backpressure. Keep the air volume constant by limiting it through the end of the call. I dont know how much to tell you to cut because I dont know how your call is tuned.
You have to get some backpressure running to get the reed to break and make the moan nice and low.

I think I may have gotten it, but it still doesn't sound like Jeffs when I record it and think it should since he tuned my call recently when he was in town. Are there any other "reference" words to use other than "ee-ahh"

Each individual person is going to sound different. There is no way that you will sound like Jeff. There is no way that you will sound like me or vice versa. If you listen to routines, they all sound different.
Practice, Practice, Practice......I'm still learning, and getting awesome advice in here. The guys in here will help you as far as they can.
