Let me make you aware of a few things. I own 6 Benellis, SBE II and Super Sports' and they are great, however they do kick with big load shells. I even had Briley convert a SBE II Comfortech to a waterfowl gun to try to stop the recoil..porting, back boring, cones extended, ported chokes. While it helped I still was not satified with the result. I am 350 Lbs. 6'5" and the shells I shoot are brutal. I shoot Remington 3 1/2" 1700 FPS Hypersonics BBs because they absolutely kill what they hit hands down.. I primarily hunt Canadian geese in Texas and the Hypersonics are so brutal that you cannot see what you hit with the Benellis. I then purchased a Beretta XTREMA 2 W/ KO and it stopped all the bad affects of the Benellis. The Kick Off system is unbelievable on the Beretta. I could not shoot more than 9 or 10 shells with the Benellis before my shoulder gave out. A friend and I shot 3 boxes of 3 1/2" shells at a 5 stand and never felt any problems with the Beretta. People had never seen a 5 Stand shot with a 3 1/2" shell. So, if you want a light kicking gun try the Beretta XTREMA 2. Do not be fooled the new A400 is not a substitute for the XTREMA 2. Especially for geese. Boom Boom Boom

Tom, yea those shells are hard on your shoulder. Can I recommend a slower load? Give Hevi-Shot a try, in 3 and half inch. I am not saying this because I am on there Pro Staff, ok Maybe I am, but I have crushed geese at 60 yards with it. It's a little slower than the hypersonic. But I am sure if you give the Hevi-shot a try you will find what I said to be true. Just my two cents.

hevi shot is prolly the best shot shell on the market for penetration.
however, the price is outrageous.
i loved shootin hevi but it just got to expensive.

I have the A 400 Extreme Unico, it crushes them. I also shoot a Beretta Extrema, both guns have very little recoil. The A400 is super fast.

I have shot them shells before, and they will rock your shoulder. However when I hunted them, I never noticed a great amount of recoil that really bothered me. I shot mine out of a SBE. I also shoot an Extrema 2 alot and it's a great gun. Glad you found something that works. IMO, Benelli and Beretta are far above the rest of the shotgun world.....

Hypersonics do kick like a mule.. I am currently shooting 3 1/2 Hevis for geese but as soon as I run out I am going back to my favorites... Winchester Supremes. Supremes are also the only thing we shoot for ducks. Barely ever any cripples.. but I believe in shooting stuff in my face so thats prolly why lol.
Just my 2 cents.

I have used the Remington shells a few times as well. Change out your gun go to a Tristar Viper G2. I have shot all the benelli's , beretta's, rems, brownings. The tristar how ever never kicks, no matter what load I shoot. I even shot a brand new versamax with the rep, and then I had him shoot my Tristar. He couldn't believe it.

I've been running an Extrema-II since 2005 and love it. Initially, I considered the kick-off as an option, but it adds an unwanted inch to the draw length. If you can deal with the added draw length, then go for it.

A-400 Extreme Unico draw length is 1/2 shorter, but comes with 1 inch and 1/2 inch pads you can change if desired. There is no Aqua Gel in the end, which in turn makes it a shorter draw length then the Extrema's.

I have been a Browning customer for the last 10 years, but it has come time to retire my Browning Gold Hunter for a full synthetic duck/goose gun. The more I pick up the Berettas, the more I like them. I have shouldered both the Extrema 2 and the A400 and can't make up my mind since they both feel great. Can anyone give me their stories or experiences with either gun to help me decide or tell me what the pros/cons of each gun are?

Sorry to throw this into this thread, just seemed like it would fit since we are on the subject of Beretta guns.

I didn't even know about the A400 Extreme until recently, but I checked it out on this link:

http://www.berettausa.com/products/beretta-a400-xtreme-unico-ko-max4-12ga-35/

It seems like a sleaker version of the Extrema II, with additional recoil absorbtion capability, along with an easier field-stripping mechanism. Although I love my Extrema II, if I were looking at Beretta semi-autos for waterfowl, I'd probably go with the A400. I really hate when companies make improvements on an already great product. lol

You can't go wrong with either Takem75. Beretta has less recoil than Benelli do to the gas, both guns are extremely durable and reliable IMO. Only a few parts to the gun when disassembeled, making cleaning easy and quick. A-400 is fast, fast, fast.......
