Any suggestions or recommendations? I'll be heading to Utah to do some duck hunting with a friend in Nov and need a case for my SBE 2 that's airline approved?

Thanks guys!

if you are only doing one trip than any hard case will do but if you plan on doing more I have a pelican case that is bullet proof i have flown my rifles in it many times and have never had the first problem. they are a little pricey but well worth it.

I think I'm going to go wi the Pelican Double Take Down. Any suggestions for what type of locks to throw on there? Any experience with the Peli-locks 1506 TSA?

If you go to the TSA website they will give you a list of locks that are TSA approved. There arent many and you usually pay a lot of money for the cheapest lock you've ever seen. Best thing to do for a lock is if you frequently travel then you can pick up a set at the airport. They have to be tsa approved so they can inspect it if they feel it is necessary.

I would also go with the pelican case. I have a SBE II and it works great. Its a little tough to cut the foam out to fit your gun but its worth it. As for the TSA locks i would not use a TSA lock on anything i travel with. When you check in at the counter you just tell them you have to check a weapon and TSA will inspect it while your standing there then you lock it up personally and no one else can get in it. I fly about 100,000 miles a year and have heard all sorts of horror stories about TSA taking stuff. Pelican case and some nice keyed master locks!!!

+1 on what Brad said bout the locks......I've used a couple different lock options on cases over the years while flying a gun. They always inspected the gun and stuff with me standing there and had me unlock and relock the case while I was there with them....I would NOT trust anyone with the TSA locks either...I've heard many a story bout stolen guns over the years...

Thank you guys for all the feedback, it is much appreciated.

I'm sold on getting the Pelican case, it's the Travel vault gun case and the size is double take down. Does anyone have this exact case? The only reason I ask is because there seems to be a 62inch linear size requirement for most airlines, anything over and you'll be charged $150.00 EACH WAY! I went to Pelican's website and the external linear sum is 61 and 15/16inches .....if my math is correct. Was just curious if anyone had this case that ran into it be oversized.

I have the 1750 travel vault and its only 53" or 54" long and the airline never gave me a problem. Remember the Airlines have weight limits too. I think delta is 50lbs a bag and 70 or 90 combined.
