I don't think so. You shoud have a couple "lookers" but make sure they are looking up wind.

I dont believe so..Because if you look at real geese they always have about 10 or more depending on the flock size watchin out while the others eat

You have got to have the proper blend!!!!

Heres what I do......

When you scout before the hunt, try to pay attention to what the birds are doing. Then try to set up the same way. ex....

If you are hunting a pond in the afternoon, and the day before you see the birds resting, or loafing, droping 5 dozen feeders might not be a good idea. But while scouting you will probally see a few feeding. so a few feeders will not hurt. Try pulling feet or bases off your decoys and set them like they are resting. This is a time when shell are worth their weight in gold.

When hunting a field that the birds are feeding in. I try to set more feeders, feeding with the wind. Then after i put my feeders out I will go back with lookers, put them facing the wind, so that it looks like they are calling at the incoming birds. Also from a trail and error mistake, try not to have your lookers facing a blind.

HOPE THAT HELPS!!!

I really had to think about that, seasons be over for a month and I am forgeting everything. Come on Sept.

ok, I missed part of the question.

Actives/sentrys I try to blend them a few here and there. Had great success this year with putting a few in a line like they were walking into the main feeding area. The frist couple times we did this we put them 50 yds out. After playing with this, 20 yds works better. Most, maybe 80% of the time the birds landed with the walkers/actives/sentrys. But those were the birds we finished and looked at them on the ground for a while.

tripp hit the nail right on the head !
our seasons been over so long startin to forget things.....
like he said watch the birds where your going to hunt and try to mimick them with your setup, you will get the best results that way.

I have to agree with checkin the birds in the field the day before but I also have to say that if you have alot of snow on the ground and it is darn right cold take your feet off your fullbodys or use a full shell spread. When the geese land in a field they will go belly down so they can find the food under the snow. Sometimes we have a few sentrys in the back looking and callin to the other birds and we also use the walkin into the spread look alot. Its deadly.
