I may be thinking somewhere down the road of getting a meatcutter. Is it worth having a flute or should I stay with just shortreeds?
according to shawn stahl, you should go into the field with as many calls as possible because you never know what the geese want to hear!

Having a different sound at your fingertips never hurts!!!!
What short reeds do you have? If you only have one look to get another one. The HPH is a great call and I have really been practicing on it. I use to have meatcutter but I traded if for MH. After having a short reed going to a flute was almost going backwards to me. Try one out and see for yourself.
Hope this helps :D

If you could hear Mike Tanaka on a meat cutter, and you were consedering a flute, you would buy it in a minute, If i could sound as good as he does, I would probaly use it most of the time..

I have an old flute that i got from my uncle and that is what i used to use. I love the lower gutteral sound of it. sometimes i'll have me or my brother blow a shortreed and the other blow the flute with just a few clucks here and there to make it sound different.

Thats gospel, not kidding. Have had late season hunts where they wont commit to a shortreed, gave them some nice clucks and moans with the flute and turns um right around.
