How can you have a dog and not spend a fortune on it?

I paid 800 for my lab and it was worth every penny of it.

Here is link to show annual cost:
http://www.labs4rescue.com/costs.htm

Now at 1,000 annually to own a dog x 14 years = 14,000 dollars.

The 800 is minimal in the big picture brother. Have you ever hunted with a %itty dog? They cost the same annual think of paying that much for a bad dog.

If your dog has any med problems due to bad breeding line the annual cost will sky rocket.

My advice is go see both parents watch them work and make sure the bitch is at least 4 years old so they can give a good hip read on her.

Do not make the mistake so many others make.

Thanks

I would say you can find a great lab at a local humane society shelter also. You could finda great lab for free anywhere in the US. You can find a great lab for 150 bucks.

I thinking spending more and researching the parents only helps increase your chance of getting a great dog.

Our dog is 5 years old I can say if I knew it would have turned out like this I would have paid up to 3 grand for it no problem.

In our area of the country (MN) it is tough to finda a super mellow lab. That was my first criteria super mellow. Second criteria was smart as in feild trial smart.

So it was hard to find very mellow parents that have made it to the top in feild trials that were mellow.

It actually took 2 years of looking and meeting parent dogs to find what I wanted and needed for hunting buddy and family pet.

The guy I bought it from can not believe how it turned out for hunting. I send her with the back command to a fence line and give here the down command and she will stay hidden until I call her over after all the shooting is done.

Thanks

yeah it is really tough to find good labs in mn, oak ridge kennels, cannon river kennels, wild wings, on and on, their are so many great lab breeders and trainers out there it isn't even funny. if you have the time you can train the pup yourself, therefore labs are not that expensive anymore, the training is if you decide to pay some to train the pup
