Just wondering if anyone uses goose silhouettes. I want to get some new decoys for next year and don't know what to buy I have 2 dozen GHG Fullbodys and 2 dozen shells that I use all the time and some old sihouettes. Don't know if I should buy more full bodys or what . If I did I wouldn't know what position to get I have six of each positison of the full bodys . Don't know what ones I should have more of .

we pretty much hunt our honkers at public walk in areas so most of the time its over 6 dozen real geese pro series

I think the silos are a good option for fillimg in your spread and enlarging it. Those Real Geese and Outlaws both look pretty nice, I would have to make the choice on them by looking into durability of the two. Silos are also a lot easier to carry in.

Silo's are an awesome decoy when used correctly. I would guess that you are mainly huntin big geese, but if you use silos on the perimeter of your spread they will give the illusion of movement which kills geese. We use them everyday we hunt and pound the snot out of them. We use real geese pro series, they can't be beat.

Real Geese work really well. We put them in the back of the spread to add depth and it looks like geese are feeding back into the field. They also work well to give movement to the spread if you place them at different angles. You can make them pretty cheap out of corrugated plastic and a welding rod if you don't want to spend the money to buy the Real Geese.

In the early season I use a lot of silos and over grass fields, mainly because I normally have to walk them in later in the season I still use them as fillers in my larger spread or put them out the nite before to hold my spot for the next morning. I use real-geese and some that I have made myself out of luwan. Making them gives me something to do in the off season.

Big Flock silhouettes are the best value out there. They are extremely durable, inexpensive and work very well.

Do the Big FLocks look as good as the Real Geese Silos?

They dont look as good to the human eye. They seem to look real good to a goose. I've killed hundreds of geese over handmade black silly's. You have to realize that a goose is up 20-30 yds above them and some distance out...your detail and color wash out of all of the silly's at a distance. I dont think that the extra realism is worth the extra money when it comes to silhouettes myself. Dont get me wrong...the big flocks look very realistic, they just arent photos like the real geese.
Something else to think about is light. Silhouettes dont take light like a fullbody, the entire side is shadowed rather than just the lower portions of the body so all your big dollar realism doesnt look right either way if it's even close to sunny out. The Big Flocks have a feather sheen finish and look much better under most light conditions.

I checked out the Big Flocks and I would say the price is definitely a little friendlier than the Real Geese. I also contacted them and they will sell you what is considered a Factory "Second" which is just some kind of flaw on the silhouette that is usually not that noticeable for about half the price of buying new. The only stipulation is that you have to buy a larger quantity than just 1 dozen.
I guess my initial concern is that they are too light, but I think if you mixed them in with some other decoys in your spread that they would complement each other well.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the tips on the sillos. I just bought a dozen Outlaw Magnums and a dozen Real Geese Pros. I bought one of each mostly because of the deal I got on each one. There are a few differences between the two but I just cant wait to hammer em' next year with them. They should really fill out our spread.
