I had a Browning Gold Hunter 3.5 camo finish, which is similar to the SX2. I like the gun good enough, but when it started to get cold out, I started having problems with it sticking and jamming on me, that gas recoil system doesn't like the cold too much. I sold that gun and bought a Benelli SBE2. I love that gun, it never jams or sticks. The Beretta I would say will be somewhat comparable to the Benelli. The SX2 and Gold hunter are quite a bit heavier, and overall harder to swing, although still a great gun. Price is the other big factor. I don't think you will go too wrong with either gun though.

Before Buying the Beretta ya might want to check out this link!!

I just got one before the season and love the way the guns feels, handles and functions. I hunt in dirt pits and never cleaned my gun the whole seaosn and i hunt 3-4 days per week. The gun never jammed at all, when i did clean the gun after the season dirt was pack in behind the reciever. My gold would have never functioned inthose conditions.
I wish I would have seen this link before I bought the gun. I would have never done it. I have yet to pattern mine and will be doing it soon. I did
miss some shot's that I would have never missed with my Browning Gold.
Here's another link about it also

I bought a Xtrema the first year they came out. LOVE IT!! Built like a brick sh!t house.
Easy to take down and clean, shoots anything you throw into it without malfunctions. Do you have access to one, you might want to throw one up to your shoulder a couple times to make sure it fits you as they are a little long.
Only draw back is Berettas customer service isnt all that, but I have never needed them with this weapon either.
Let us know what you decide on.

First of all those results are for the Xtreama2.
I have a Al391 Extreama and I love it! I barely cleaned it all season and it performed flawlessly. However if I had the $$$ I would go with Benelli. I might get a SBE2 w/ comfortech LH for this next season, will have to trade in the beretta and others to get it though.

Who has patterned there Extrema's here?
What are ya finding out?
The extrema 1 are the ones with the most left patterning issues.
isn't a benelli and Beretta same price?

SX2 SX2 SX2
I have SX2's that havent been cleaned since 2004 season opener. We go through 10+ cases a year and I dont clean guns. Never had a misfire or a cycling problem. We hunted -20 in Montana...zero problems.
Just dont oil it heavy, oil it light then wipe it almost dry and you will never have a problem.

Beretta and benelli differ by a couple hundred dollars. I only patterened my al391 w/ a patternmaster and it shot great. The best way to figure your gun out is to shoot some clays w/ the same load that way you get used to what you are going to be shooting at.

My question is to Krees. What kind of SX2 do you have, I mean the finish? My Browning Gold hunter was the mossy oak breakup with the parkerized receiver, and I had nothing but problems with it. They told me when I bought it and others who had it that you are not supposed to oil it when it gets cold out, it will gue up on you and stick. They recommended using drylube. I tried everything and still had nothing but problems with it. I finally started oiling the crap out of it and it worked better even cold. I got tired of it and bought a benelli SBE2, best thing I ever bought, I should have never wasted my money on the Browning. Now my friend who had a Browning in the blue finish and nickel receiver, it worked like a machine.

I had a black parkerized one, and now I have 2 DuraTouch guns. Never had a problem with any of them. I shoot them bone dry.
There are significant differences in the actions between the Gold and the SX2. You cant compare the two guns on their durability or reliability.
People get into this deal about saying they wont recommend a SX2 because their Gold malfunctioned. Thats like saying you wouldnt recommend a Beretta because your Beneli had problems. Yes they are made by the same company and share some of the same parts but they are still different guns. They work, shoot and act different.

and...
The extrema2 is gas operated, where as the SBEII inertia driven, big difference in operating systems.
I have a buddy who has both guns, the SX@ and the Beretta, he loves both of them but the Beretta has become his goto gun of choice.

Just curious, what do you guys think of that new Franchi? The I-12. I know it isn't 3.5" -- but it looks like a great gun!

I havent really heard anything bad about Beretta Extrema's, but they pull up really crappy in my opinion. I shoot an black synthetic SBE and like it ALOT! I know several people that have SX2's and they seem to like them alot. One guy that has one has had problems with the o-ring or something in the gas tube. It has broken 3 times on him. Im not sure exactly what happened though. My 2 cents is that you just cant go wrong with a Benelli.
