I have one quick question. Which is better to learn how to use a SMH, Callin Geese 2.0 or Staitmeat honker sounds cd vol. 2? Is the DVD for what call to use when on geese or does it show you how to use the call itself?

Dean:

Both have their place....both will discuss how to make the sounds and talk a little about how to use them in the field. The thing you will get in the DVD that you will not in the CD is that you will be able to see how Jeff holds the call, places the call to his mouth, and how he uses his hands to manipulate the sound from the call to produce certain sounds.

Personally, I own both...and have owned the Strait Meat Sounds CD and Callin' Geese the Strait Meat Way VHS for a long time. These two plus the Strait Meat Honker Sounds CD are what taught me to call geese. Everything I have learned on a goose call was either learned from these tools or from just messing around with the call until I got the sounds I was looking for.

In all honesty....if I were in your shoes...I would purchase both and here is why - with the DVD you will have a visual and audible aid to use at home to practice. With the CD you will have the audible aid to use in the car or truck to practice. If you are much like me...no one really wants to listen to you blow your calls at home in the house, so the vehicle is the ideal place or riding in the vehicle to some secluded pond or lake or somewhere to practice. The CD gives you the versatility to be able to do that.

Just my thoughts....you cannot go wrong with any of Jeff's instructionals...they are all great and WILL teach you to call geese - or ducks for that matter!!!!

Definately buy both, these are great resources for learning to use these calls, I keep the CD's in my truck, and the dvd's at home and work and watch/listen frequently.
