I was at a small outdoor show in In. over the weekend with my ret. club. While we were sitting around there trying to sell raffle tickets and watching the crowd I came up with a question. How would you guys react to a fella or two coming up to the Foiles booth say with a Zink calls hat on and a Foiles T shirt on.And begins to tell you that he's big on using your duck calls but prefers the Zink line of goose calls? Or better yet, Guy walks up to the booth with a Tim Grounds hat on and tells you "I think your duck calls are great and I use them all the time, but I like my Tim Grounds goose calls too much to give them up"How would y'all respond to such a person?

Personally...I wouldn't treat him any different than I would if it was a guy that came up decked out in ALL Foiles gear head to toe. The guy is still blowing Foiles calls...maybe not both duck and goose...but he is still a customer of FMI and will be treated with respect regardless, just as any customer would be treated with respect.

Now...I may ask why he is not blowing our goose calls or if he has ever tried them. I would see if he would atleast give us a chance to win him over...but I am not going to push him or bash another call maker.....regardless....I am not going to treat him any different because he only blows our duck calls or has another call makers apparel on.

I have actually had this happen while I was working a show in Peoria IL. Taking it a step further, he wanted me to tune his Grounds call for him. Which didnt make any sense because Grounds was at a booth across the way. I tuned his call and got to talking to him and he later bought a SMH. So it worked out.
Hey SDMF where are you from? I am from NW Indiana also.

I never really think about it to much, one thing I have noticed is alot of guys who walk into the booth wearing a T.G. hat or shirt shoot you a look and walk out. That kind of bothered me at first now I try to pick out the ones who are going to do it. What ever kind of shirt, hat, or calls they have a round their neck I just try to start a conversation with them and at the very least have them walk away thinking the guys in from Foiles are O.K.

Hey Lovell you weren't working in Peoria, you were waiting to take a walk down the street. HAHA Johnny McDonnell

As far as a guy or gal coming to the booth with anyone elses calls on or wanting to try out a call, wanting their calls tune We ALWAYS tune them or help them out. I may charge them for a new reed or guts or whatever if it isn't one of My products but I encourage them to bring them by for a retune NO PROBLEM. If they like My Goose call or Duck and not the other, No problem everybody is different but are still waterfowlers a brother in all respects. I will encourage the caller IF He wants to try the call no charge and tune the call anyway They want if they pefer but the answer is NO PROBLEM wear Your colors, wear Your calls and come on by and visit a while. Thanks and GOOD HUNTIN!!! Jeff

Ahhhhh A Man of reason........thats how great businesses are run!!!

A half customer is still a customer and with one bad experience that customer can take all of his/her business somewhere else along with their buddies $$$$$$$. Good thoughts Mark
