Shortreed guts in meatcutter

I'm dieing to try it, but save me the heartache if you've already tried. Does it work?

I put alot of air thru my calls so it didn't work at all....a short reed reed has too much surface area and even with an unshaved reed it still didn't sound that good....I would stick with the Foiles flute guts and tune it like a short reed with the reed able to just dip into the tone channel and I like pull the last 1/4 inch of the reed up like I do with all my calls...it sounds sweet....I was thinking of using my ivory Meatcutter for the meat goose contest...let me know if you need anymore help or want to hear it...goose
