I read the thread on putting silicone grease on the o-rings. Is dielectric grease the same thing? I have been to a few auto and hardware stores and no one knows what I`m talking about. I know dielectric grease is safe to use on rubber. I was taking my call apart every time I used it to dry out. From what I read I shouldn`t unless I have a problem or to tune it. Just wondering what every one else does? Now I just shake it and stand it on end.

I dont take them apart unless I have to tune. I have a SMH thats pretty old and still has the original O rings in good condition.
Dielectric...dont know but it is safe on rubber so....let us know how it works.

I have always just used chapstick on my SMH o rings and never had a problem.

I know the stuff Jeff uses comes in a small jar about 2" in diam. and 1 1/2" tall, can't remeber what it's called. If you have a Napa store in your area I know they have it in a tube, if I think of it at work tomorrow I'll find the part #, aonther product is called Sil-Glyde or Syl-Glyde and most auto parts stores sell that. Not sure about dielectric grese, cummins engines have that in their electrical connectors and most of those have a rubber weather seal in them, so you'd probably be O.K. Johnny McDonnell

Thank you very much. I`m going to NAPA today just to be on the safe side. I`ll ask them if they know the difference.
