Best waders are whatever my hunting buddy has. I usually try to leave mine at home so ......

For real though. I'm going to add on to the wade comment. Who is using the breathables and what do you think?

My opinion, either Whitewater or Drake both in Max-4 of course. I currently use all whitewater, and it has performed flawlessly. I have yet to get wet in it or cold for that matter. I like the drake stuff aswell, and am thinking about buying one of the quarter zip wading shirts.

Browning coats and bibs have worked well for me. Pro-Line waders are the BOMB. I liked Drake until I met the guy who runs it.

One thing I know that I would swear by is my under armour. It works great and pulls the sweat off you to keep you warm.

I have some Cabela's 1600 gram sole 5mm waders and they work great in the mid 20's to single digit weather, but any warmer than that and they are too much.

i've got a pair of cabelas waders that have lasted me at least four years. jackets usually just the one i got from cabelas too, hadn't had any problems w/ it for the money. the best stuff i have seen on the market is the stuff from drake, but that is just based on what i've seen. my buddy recently got a drake jacket and swears it is the best piece of equipment he owns. i imagine the next thing i have to buy, it'll probaly be by drake.

I've been using LaCrosse waders ever since I started, I've liked them, the first pair lasted 4 seasons until they had a leak, sent them in and they sent me a new pair free, so good customer service. Here in the Midwest, almost need 2 pair of waders, one for cold and one for warm weather. My 1200 grams are hot early, I got a pair of 1000 gram straight neoprene waders no fleece lining and I love them until it gets real cold. My buddy has some Drake clothes, I don't and really I wouldn't pay the money for it. One of the best things I ever bought is a pair of polar fleece thermal underwear Remington brand, I stay warm in those. Haven't found any gloves that are worth anything. I have a fleece hand warmer that is nice in really cold weather. Hydro fleece jackets are great. And a good pair of Poly liner socks and Merino Wool socks.

Columbia coats and parkas and bibs still take the gold IMO. I still have my old late80's/90's brown camo coats. I use them every day of the season and stay dry and warm. I can't say enough for them. Hodgeman waders and Drake EST and MST stuff ain't bad either. Just bought a pair of the Muck boots last season for field and marsh edge, and they are awsome. Comfortable and warm, highly recommended.

Just found my best pair of gloves yet for hunting.

I was fishing the sippi Tuesday and use some ice armor glove. I am a wussy on cold and these actually kept my hands warm.

How cumbersome are they when shooting? What was the make and name of them again? I'll try anything if it works.

Gotta go with Browning. I've got both Browning and Columbia and I think the Browning is a little warmer and more comfortable. Columbia is a close 2nd however.

I own all kinds of miscellanious stuff. But for waders, I have 1000 gram Hodeman 5mm waders. I think the 5mm instead of the 3mm is worth the extra $$$ becasue they are thicker and mine have some sort of coating over the neoprene that prevents them from ripping. I have Remington bibs that I like alot. Really warm on those cold days in the goose field. I have a Remington 4 in 1 parka. I also have a 10X coat that I got for christmas. I am wanting a Drake Eqwader fleece. They're pro but cashy. Columbia is always a good choice. All my stuff is in either Max-4 or Shadowgrass. I like both of them but Im usually in a blind anyway so it doesnt really matter what pattern I have on.

I am very anal about my gear.....I have spent so much money on garbage throughout the years because I couldn't afford any "good" stuff. Well that all changed last year.....with that said -

I prefer Drake for clothing. I bought the WaderTec Turtleneck and Quarter Zip and the Fleece Lined Pullover last year and I will be purchasing two sets of Drake Bibs this fall...un-insulated and insulated. As for under gear....no doubt that Under Armour does its job and does it well. I hunted in some pretty rough weather this year...rain, snow, sleet, hail...you name it... and I never once got cold or wet. And I NEVER wore anything more than the Under Armour, the WaderTec Turtleneck and the Fleece Lined jacket and waders or bibs. Gloves.....I can't wear them. I can't call with them on, as it muffles the sound too much. Hats....I have a Drake Boonie I wear in the rain and any other time I have my trusty Foiles or Trader Outdoors hats I wear.

Boots....for regualr boots you cannot beat Danner. I have a pair of uninsualted Pronghorns that I have absolutely pounded the hell out of over the course of the last 1.5 and they have yet to let me down at all. I have a pair of the 1000gram Pronghorns on order and I cannot wait. These boots wear like tennis shoes!!! Now, for muck boots or rubber boots as some call them...I like the LaCrosse Burlys or Alpha Burlys. Very durable and comfortable.

As for waders...I LOVE the Cabelas Super Mag 1600 for cold weather. I am going to look into a set of the lightweight LaCrosse Swamp Fox waders for the early duck season this year. A buddy has a pair and he loves them.

I have made many mistakes over the years buying less quality stuff and I promised myself after the season I had two years ago (froze my #$* off and was always wet) that I would never go through that again.

Drake might be a little more expensive, but it is definately worth it. You can tell that it was designed by hunters. Magnetic closures, neoprene cuffs, spring open pockets on the hand warmers, they have there act together on design. Combined with the under armour cold weather gear turtleneck, its a combination that is tough to beat.

i have a columbia hat for my head and then i put on underarmor, a 4 in 1 DU coat, sportsmans bibs ( which are awsome for only $50) and i got a new pair of MAD DOG DU 1000g weighters for christmas, that i havent had the chance to try out yet. i usually dont ware gloves cause someone has to call the birds in. hahahaha

DRAKE WILL BE THE BEST THIS COMING YEAR. Under Amor, Lacross waders, River West for the coat and bibs, they are the best i have found besides Columbia. The old drake bibs were not good at all, I shed a pair of them. Man i am telling you the RIVER'S WEST is the deal.

i plan on pickin up one of the drake pull overs this year as well as some cabellas bibs. the waders i have are only 400 grain waders but ive never honestly been cold in them. i payed like 80 bucks at a farm and home for them. Held up nice so far. i like them cause when its warm you arent dyin in the waders.
