Have any of you guys been involved in building wood duck boxes???
Is it worth the time and expence and does it work.
If so can I place them on some of our small lakes.
Thanks

We've got a spot we keep thinking about possibly putting up some wood duck boxes. If we put them up there, I probably wouldn't hunt that spot anymore though. From what I've heard they work great. The wood ducks will definitely take them over, then you'll get a boost in your local population, You'll just need another spot close by to hunt them. Our place is a 2-3 acre pond in the middle of some big woods, there really isn't another spot to hunt them on close by, so if we put them up there, we won't hunt that spot anymore.

The houses work excellent and will definetely increase your local wood duck population. Keep in mind when you put up the wood boxes think about predators availability to access the house.

they will def. help out your locals and they are fun to build, i have a friend that has 27 on a 100 ac. prop. lots of slough-riverbottom-man made ponds(3) timber ground. he closed up 10 of them because the hens started "dumping" in them, now there is alot better success rate. he has kept records on them dating back to the "70es". and still hunts this prop. every season.
