I'm in west central illinois and things are locked up tighter then a gut right now. There are barely any ducks around but the goose numbers seem to be good. I was wonderin' what's left in northern illinois/iowa/anything basically north of me. Hopin' for one last duck flurry before the 27 comes!

Here there are minimal at best as far as geese. I have seen only a few hard mallards around sitting on the river. Most everything is locked up and the only water open would be small portions of the river. In the areas that have some open birds are packed in tight. I don't think we have seen our big push of geese yet though alot have been moving through. I have yet to see any big groups of lessers migrating most of them giants.

We had good numbers of geese until first of last week. I am not sure why they would push out now though, they rode out the rough time of single digit temps and 6-8" of snow. There is open water here and there on the big areas. You have to get out and look for it though. I kinda agree that we still may see a push. I HOPE STARTING ON DEC 24

have been seeing 500-1000 mallards feeding in a field last week, but since school is out for winter break, i dont have to drive down the highway(Where the field is by)...thats all i have seen for ducks, but there are lots of geese. With this cold weather, lots of everything is leaving!..Hope this helps!

hey max4gooser...I also am a greene county hunter w/ 106 acres give or take. There are lakes all over where i'm at and we're about 5 1/2 to 6 miles from the river. I went up one evening last week lookin for some 100 honkers or so that I had seen during 2nd gun season. Of course they were no where to be found. I did find some ducks though sunday night. You can count on me layin in my Finisher this weekend tryin to smack some field greenheads!

I'm about 2 miles north of carrollton and just slightly east. We are neighbors to Mike Matheny, John Mabry, and Izzy...the place they bought has a big lake called robin hood on it. Plus they just built a man made lake to hunt and fish...it's like 5 acres or so. I've been up scoutin and they must have released ducks cause there are a few hundred up there if not more..but they stick tight. I'm tryin' to devised a plan to killem out of my cornfield in my finisher. I know the geese were lousy just a few weeks ago up there and then poofff...nuthin'! I'm hopin' to get a few more migrators around there soon. It's a hit and miss deal though boy. I'm headin' to northern illinois monday probably to do some grindin' but good luck to ya...i hear the birds are there!

live up here in ottawa IL in lasalle county, and the illinois river is not holding many mallards at all a few here and there, but we are holding a lot of divers, but last saturday we had about almost 1500 honkers sitting on the river and then silica pit was holding about another 2000 so we got the geese, as for the fields out by Com Ed weve been seeing a lot of ducks and geese buts thats normal
