I have a question for the goose shooters in the midwest, Idaho in particular. Back home on Prince Edward Island, the potato capital of Canada, I used to do a lot of hunting in potato fields. The honkers like to feed on the potatos that the digger missed. Do the midwest hunters have success with Canada's in the spud fields as well?

I'm in the midwest.... but have yet to find a potato field in Kansas. I'm sure there are a few around, I just haven't seen them.

Well I do live in Idaho and I am a hardcore goose hunter. But I have never hunted a potato field or have I seen geese in one. We hunt grain and corn fields. And from time to time a sugar beet field. Geese will eat the beets! But I have never seen one in a spud field.

I have seen a few potato fields in central Nebraska but cant say that I have ever seen any geese in them or hunters even. Too many crop fields in the area. The geese tend to target the corn fields.

Hmmmmmmm....heres a poll question. Idaho Potato with your wild game or Sweet Corn straight from an Iowa farmer. I just grilled some Goose breasts the other night and soaked about a dozen ears of corn and threw them on the grill with it. AWESOME!!!!!

Idaho isn't in the midwest...thats the northwest...and we hunt potato fields but they are disced under and winter wheat or bluegrass are planted as our second crop...geese will seldom eat spuds but will eat new shoots of whatever is coming up...goose

I live right outside the Red River Valley in MN, so we get both the beet and potato fields. I cant say that I have ever seen geese in the potato field but they love the sugar beet fields. I dont know if its the beets themselves that they eat but i think they eat the greens that are chopped off.
